OK Cardinal fans...I'll give it to you

At the end of the 9th, I set my DVR to record the rest and I went to bed. But I was still following the game via twitter as I was reading on my ipad.

I just watched the rest of it.

For a sport that is in death throes as far as being nationally relevant on television, that was about as good as it gets...and real cool that a hometown kid played such a huge role (David Freese). Very good stuff, even if I don't like the Cardinals.

I dont understand people that dont enjoy baseball because its boring...what other sport has that suspense??

I think it's the time it takes to build up to that suspense. I find the same feelings watching the first three quarters of NBA games in the playoffs. Just wait until the fourth. The first half of college basketball is like that for me as well.

College football is nothing like that, however. Which is why I like it more than any sport....and wrestling is also nothing like that.

for me its just the huge down time in between.

On TV, I can understand this. Sometimes I get a little too restless to sit through an entire game, unless it's either 1. a playoff game, or 2. just a great game. I don't skip out on those unless it's just totally out of hand.

But in-person, there's still no other sport I'd prefer to watch.

I agree on college football...very rarely do I watch an entire NBA game. I do enjoy watching good college bball teams though (aka not Iowa under Lick)

you know what, i think agree with you. isn't that weird that maybe the worst TV sport is the best live sport? hockey is close though, boring as all get out on the tube but really fun to be at.

though i have to have a bag of seeds if i'm going to a game.

And wrestling I enjoy...but I cant sit there. I dont know enough technically to watch it...it feels like your watching same thing over and over. So I just follow Iowa wrestling through scores mostly...I watch ncaa's usually

Great game last night. Hate the Cards because I'm a Cubbie, but that was amazing.

One thing about the "suspense" of baseball that is different from nearly every other sport is that your opportunities to score are truly limited--you can't get a turnover and have another opportunity to score. In close games in the playoffs, the "scarce resource" of at-bats/innings adds to the drama.

anywho, back on topic. good story. not a cards fan, but have to show them some respect after that.

The call by Joe Buck for the game winner? Perfect...just perfect...have a lump in my throat after watching this video...his father Jack, longtime Cards and MLB announcer, calls Game 6 walk off 11th inning homer...Joe the same last night, walk off 11th inning homer in game 6, same call..and just perfect

I like watching hockey on TV when I can, but I'd love to get to a Blackhawks game before too long.

And completely agreed on the seeds. I always go through at least one bag at a game (at any level).

I agree with this. Baseball is the only sport where if you are just 30% successful, you are an all star millionaire.

The % of seeing Freese tie it up in the 9th was low. The percentage chance of him hitting a walk off in the 11th after coming through in the 9th even lower...so when you see things like that happen in baseball, they are instantly etched in your mind, forever, even if you don't root for the team that did it.

isn't that the best feeling, having your cheek totally raw from eating so many seeds?

do yourself a favor and get to a blackhawks game. you'll love it. don't get crappy seats though.

Jack and Joe Buck Make the Same Call - YouTube

Joe Buck is an arrogant POS who is a Cardinal homer living off his daddy's name. I cant stand him or McCarver. This isnt the first time he has used the same call.

Did you get the same lump in your throat after hearing Dolph shout Vin Scully's "I cant believe what I just saw" after the Cap One Bowl? :D

They had higher ratings on Monday than MNF and had higher ratings in Dallas than the NBA finals. Regular season, maybe, but still getting pretty good ratings in the postseason.

2011 World Series -- Game 5 matches TV rating from 2010 - ESPN

Joe Buck may (or may not) have gotten his foot in the door due to his family name, but the guy is a good commentator--one of the best in the business.

The funny thing is I cant think of an announcer I hate listening to more. Not saying anyone is wrong who likes him.
