Ohio St At It Again

I wouldn't ever defend Ohio State, but he seems like a pretty good young man to me.

That doesn't matter though. Good people make mistakes. I've made plenty of them and I'd like to think I'm a good person. However, you don't learn anything from your mistakes if you don't have to answer for them.

Urban Meyer has a vast history of not punishing his players for all sorts of wrongdoings off the field. It's not teaching them anything other than the fact that because they are football players they can get away with it. Desmond King is a good kid too. No one even knows what he did... Late to a meeting or something... But he served his punishment and rightfully so. I'm guessing he learned a lot more from that situation than Elliott will and the two mistakes aren't even close to being on the same level.

Court records for case "2015 TR D 134190" show Columbus police officer Jerome Collins cited Elliott May 13, 2015, for driving 59 mph in a 55 mph zone on I-670 West near the I-71 interchange. Though a citation for four miles over the speed limit could be seen as nefarious, it's possible Officer Collins reduced to the citation speed to avoid putting points on Elliott's license. It's also possible Elliott sped through a construction zone.

Regardless, speeders in Ohio are allowed to waive their court date by submitting their fine through the mail. Elliott, for reasons known only to him, decided to exercise his right as an American citizen and fight the ticket in court.

Elliott, however, failed to make his May 18 arraignment, at which point a bench warrant was issued June 22 for failure to appear and unpaid fines.

That warrant was cancelled June 25 as a new arraignment date was set: July 25. When Elliott failed to report for that date as well, a new bench warrant was issued July 28.

The second warrant, like the first, was cancelled on Aug. 4 when a third and final arraignment date was set: Aug. 14.

The case never reached that date. Elliott completed a diversion program and a plea deal was filed Aug. 11. Elliott's original $195 fine was reduced to $25. With court costs, Elliott was given until Dec. 1 to pay $132 total.

I am not excusing him, but, if it WAS speeding in a construction zone AND he decided to fight it, I could understand why. What if he was in a line of cars mand just going with "the flow". It probably would hack anyone off to be singled out in that scenario.

OTOH, the fact he kept missing arraignments, then re-scheduling, THEN eventually getting the fine lowered to $25 via a diversion program tells me one thing, given the latest snafu: THE DIVERSION PROGRAM DIDN'T WORK!

Star RB Eliott cited for no drivers license, suspended license and not having control of his vehicle after losing control of his car and hitting another vehicle. He said he hit a puddle that made him hydroplane.Ohio St said He Would Play.Imagine That

I don't think this incident or having a suspended license rises to the level where he should be disciplined within the football program. Much adoo about nothing IMO. Everything I seen and heard about this young man has been positive. He's no thug.

I have a hard time spending Faux outrage on this one. Kid was going 4 MPH over the speed limit, so I don't think you throw the book at him and toss away the key.

It sounds like it’s time for Urban to have “healthâ€￾ problems and “retireâ€￾ from coaching.
