Ohio St. AD still backs Tressel

Your program is so irrelevant that I don't even know what ISU fans cheer for. Yeah let's get 6 wins this year!!!! Woohoo we won 2 conference games, yippee. Iowa State is such a nothing program I actually giggle whenever see them on tv. Nice wannabe USC unis by the way....lol

Honestly, in some ways I'd rather be a die-hard ISU fan than an OSU fan. I know I wouldn't want to become as jaded as many OSU fans are. I wouldn't want to be okay with blatant cheating if it landed my team in a BCS game. I wouldn't want to have absolute slime for a head coach.

Its the way it is. Just win baby.

Wow that is pretty indicative of how the whole OSU athletic department feels...I for one would absolutely love to see the NCAA kill OSU. However we all know that won't happen...
OSU is a joke and an embarrassment to the Big Ten.

I know Fufred will say "We are not an embarrassment we have won 600 conference titles blah blah blah etc etc"

But Fufred it's about more than that....we in the Big Ten like to point at the SEC as being unprincipled, cheaters (which they are, rotten to the core, Scum of college athletics) but it's hard to do that when we have an SEC wannabe (OSU) bringing down the conference.

I don't understand how you guys are not mad....if Sally Mason EVER said "I just hope Kirk doesn't fire me" I would be ticked off....they are the PRESIDENT of the University...what Gee said was out of line....but it's probably true. OSU is example 1A of lack of institutional control.

Re: But fufred...

a public show of support doesn't mean he is rock solid and will keep having his job.

I think this is likely. Emmert will make his mark.

I'd like to think this occurs, but my expectations are very, very low. He had his chance prior to the bowl game, but let the cheaters play...his lack of spine was clear w/ that mistake, and he was rightfully publicly ridiculed for that decision.

As for the ISU fan comments, I can't say I'd prefer to support a perennial loser, as clean as your program may be. But I don't want to be a fan of a program that takes winning for granted and fires respectable coaches for only winning 9 games/yr., but not being able to beat your rival, either. I also couldn't tolerate the arrogance and condescension that seemingly comes w/ "winning programs." It's ironic that fans of programs can brag about their team's success, when I'd venture to say ~99% of those fans have very, very likely never directly had anything to do w/ a team's success, at least beyond cheering...yet somehow they feel compelled to talk down to you b/c the team you support doesn't win as much as theirs.

Tressel is a lying cheating scumbag. Just because he is well spoken and says all the right things, doesn't change the facts of what he did. He knew exactly what he was doing.

Just because he wears the vest, has short hair, and thanks the Lord at every opportunity doesn't confuse me. There are major skeletons in that program and he's known about it for years.

I believe it's poetic justice that his prize recruit, Pryor, has led the demise. Nice work changing these men beyond what you teach them on the field. When that rhetoric is a sham, things like this happen.

Re: But, fufred...

There is always another layer to this story coming out. It looks to me like they keep finding more and more out about this. The NCAA appears to want to play the card where they will punish OSU less if the rid themselves of Tressel. If they don't it appears to be looking like a USC-type penalty for the institution.

How willing is OSU protected against firing him before the outcome of an investigation by the NCAA? Or will they have another deal like O'Brien on their hands?

SI has a story coming up. We know the premise but not sure if they have legit dirt or more half truths like the car story....
