Ohio St. AD still backs Tressel

There is no argument, beating the 6th best SEC team doesn't impress me much. Truth hurts huh bud. OSU has also beat numerous SEC teams, check your facts.

Nothing you can say could hurt me ya fufu. Just more excuses from you along with underhanded shots at the Iowa program.

And I was referring to bowl games, but you're point is taken . Maybe you should check your stats though. Iowa has beaten much better teams than "the 6th best SEC team".

Please. Iowa played much lesser versions of SEC teams in the "who gives a crap bowl". When Iowa can beat OSU more than once or twice a decade or make a national title game then Iowa fans can talk smack. Until then ripping OSU's NC failures is just silly.

considering that we may not see them but 4-6 times in a given decade untill we go to a 9 game conference schedule. are you saying that if we start the decade in '11 and go through '20, that Iowa WILL NOT be .500 against tOSU? because I will take that bet (including championship meetings too of course if they were to happen).

To be fair, playing Florida in the Outback Bowl is a tad different than taking them on for the national title. That Florida title team would have beat Iowa by 14-plus. Also, I didn't realize needing a fluke hail mary to beat LSU meant you had no problems with them.

Yeah, if I had to watch my in-state rival go to January Bowl after January Bowl and beat up on the SEC I'd be pretty jealous too. Now run along little one.

uh yeah I'd take that bet. History is on my side and while I respect what Iowa does they just aren't as talented year in, year out. Iowa can jump up and win once in awhile but they will never consistently beat OSU. Never have, never will....

But fufred...

There is something new all the time in this story.

Your current AD didn't hire Tressell, did he? I thought that was before he got there. Am I wrong?

And it seems to me he might just be supporting him publicly, independently of what might happen going forward. I mean, all kinds of GMs/ADs put out public shows of support before they fire someone within days.

I am not saying that is the case here, but a public show of support doesn't mean he is rock solid and will keep having his job. I am not trying to say fufred is wrong. He knows more than I re OSU. I am just speaking in general terms and would like to hear some feedback from you, fufred.

Thanks in advance.

No you are correct Smith didn't hire Tressel, Andy Geiger was the AD at the time. Tressel has waaaaaay more pull than Gene Smith with fans and alumni. If Smith fires Tressel OSU fans will want Smith's head. Most OSU fans would push Gene Smith in front of a speeding bus if it saved Tressel's job. Beat UM 9 out of 10 times and you are basically a deity in C-bus

Hawkfan. I have to agree with Fuf on this one. i will take your bet that we will be .500 against them. In the past 20 years we've beaten OSu like twice. OSu was beating us before Tressel arrvied and will probably do so long after he is gone.

This is definitely a great attitude to have

Pathetic. Tressel might be untouchable with the OSU administration but here's to hoping the NCAA drops the hammer.

Your program is so irrelevant that I don't even know what ISU fans cheer for. Yeah let's get 6 wins this year!!!! Woohoo we won 2 conference games, yippee. Iowa State is such a nothing program I actually giggle whenever see them on tv. Nice wannabe USC unis by the way....lol

....and to be honest I have no idea what you cheer for. I respect ISU way more than I do osu. I bet if ISU won a conference championship they wouldn't go running out the door to sell their rings at the very first opportunity, but I suppose it means more when you actually deserve it.

When you win rings every year I guess some take them for granted. OSU players are spoiled with their success. B10 titles every year, gold pants every year, bcs games every year....

But, fufred...

If tOSU will get a strong penalty, though not a death penalty but something akin to USC if not greater, and Smith fires him so that the NCAA penalty is severely lessened, how much of an issue would that firing be then?

history is on your side, but with the impending doom that is rapidly approaching tOSU, I think that levels the playing field give or take over the next decade.

MAC'- Iowa over the next 10 years will be nothing like the Iowa of the former 20. we are at the precipice of greatness. I think that Iowa gets 3-4 Big Ten titles this decade alone and no season below 9 wins. I wish I could quote this thread to see if it is true 10 years from now.

not without a LOIC charge or a failure to monitor. There may be a new little story coming out in the next week or so. We'll see if it has legs....

We were suppose to be at the preceipe of greatness after 02 04 and 09, but what happened we took two steps back after that. The last championship we won was in 2004 and it was shared. the last Outright was 1985 26 years ago. with the Big Ten title game it just got even harder to win the outright title, because 9 time out of 10 the team we would face would be Ohio state who we beat once a decade.

cars every year, vacations every year, sexual favors every year......

Or, depending on OSU's penalties, it could be Wisconsin. Since that rivalry is split exactly down the middle (42-42-2), I would like our chances. If we could take advantage of OSU's woes, we could level the playing field a bit. We'd never be equal, but we could close the gap some.
