Ohio RB Todd Sibley “Slightly Interested” in Iowa

Iowa coaches appear to be overpaid and lazy. Nothing changes from week to week. Teams have very little to prepare for when they play us. We run the same crap, regardless. Now we find out our coaches do not even follow up with their recruits after they commit? If true, that is totally unacceptable. I would have gotten one of my coaches an apartment in Texas to make sure these kids knew how badly they were wanted and needed at Iowa.

Wait. What? He's committed to Pitt? Pray tell, why is Iowa going after another school's committed player? I know, probably because he didn't get a letter from Pitt where he promised to not look at other schools. Allows for a moral high ground to be kept.

Plausible deniability. It's the new rage in this culture.

I have no idea as to what's really going on with Iowa and its recruits, and unless I missed his voicemail, Kirk hasn't called me to explain what's going on. (He's like that, you know). So, I have no clue on Iowa's side of the story, I'm sure they have one, and it could be a very good explanation; I do know that he can't speak about specific recruits right now, and, in the end we'll probably never really know.

But, I do think they have a public relations problem at times. They can get behind stories, not out ahead of them. To that end, it's not just about Eno Benjamin, who knows if he'll be any good at the college level, but it's about the broader aspect keeping people reasonably informed. If there's a rationale behind not wanting a recruit to look at other schools, while they look at kids who have "committed" to other schools, then explain it. On its face, it seems inconsistent, but they probably have their reasons, why can't we be informed? They certainly aren't hesitant to ask us to financially and otherwise support their program, I think we're entitled to some information, not chapter and verse, but something to keep all of our rampant speculation and cheeky comments to a minimum.

From what Eno told me, Iowa decided to part ways/pull offer (semantics) Sunday night. My GUESS is the coaches were thinking about it for a week or so but were focused on the season and waited until the bye week started to make a final decision.

Slightly? No way. Don't want him unless he has pledged his first born son to the hawks.

Hey hey hey. You might have a new-found respect for the phrase "slightly interested in Iowa" when it describes 85% of the fanbase in 24 months.;)

If Iowa keeps performing like they have so far this year, I'll feel the same way about Iowa football as young Mr. Sibley does right now.
