To have a QB who can run and move the chains! Those DE can't just bull rush, LB have to respect him, changes everything offensively!

I have to reassess some of my thoughts in terms of the quarterback carrying the football. Mateer(Oklahoma QB) ran it 19 times in beating Michigan. Haynes King(Ga. Tech QB) ran it 25 times in beating Clemson. Gronowski carried the ball 17 times in the loss to ISU.

I grew up in an era where you wanted to limit the hits your quarterback took. That isn’t the case anymore and I just have to wrap my brain around that. These days you are looking for someone that can move, but also take and dish out a little punishment.

I am still going to throw up a little in my mouth when Gron gets hit.

I guess college QB's are going the way of the modern running back. Use them and abuse them until they get hurt, then plug in the next guy.

Right now, his running ability is one of the keys to his effectiveness. Over the long haul though, they're testing their luck with potential injuries. 46 rushes in 4 games is a lot for a quarterback who is not primarily a rusher.

That being said, being rush first with pass being complementary, isn't going to work this year without the dominant rusher. On early downs, Iowa is going to have to use both Gronowski's arm and legs to keep opposing defenders from stacking the box or just run blitzing Iowa every first and second down.
