Oh no! Uthoff asked about the confidence level of the team...

He answers, "I don't know." He looks upset in the interview. Said the ball ended up in "someone else's hands." He could have said Mike's name. He has been pretty edgy to reporters lately as well. Doesn't seem to be enjoying himself at all on the floor...can't remember the last time he smiled during a game.

I feel really bad for him and the seniors. I would love to see them turn it around and make a tourney run. Once they are out of the 'Hack, reach, bump, hand-check" big ten, they might be ok. I feel like with a little freedom of motion, they might be their shot and confidence back.

I agree.. he is saying what a lot of us our saying...

Mike G shouldn't be shooting the ball at the end of the shot clock.

It doesn't work.

maybe Uthoff should demand the ball instead of hiding from it. Players want the ball at the end of games, just sayin'

Utoff is greatly skilled but our swoon is as much on him as anyone. Since Marylabd's 2-13 he has struggled shooting the ball and making plays most nights. Teams have gotten much more physical and Jarod does not like it. When he got uncomfortable, everyone outside of Jok got uncomfortable.

He's the key. Utoff must be relentless in his approach demanding the basketball to create for himself or others. Get in the post, drive the ball, shoot it deep, get an offensive rebound, etc. He simply pouts and defers when it gets uncomfortable.

Yeah, I'm sure that was Uthoff's idea to use himself as a screener on the play where Mike couldn't finish as the basket yet again.

Barring an attitude adjustment, he'll have a great career in Belgium or Croatia or another European country that doesn't give a crap about basketball. Soft whiny players don't get paid in the States.

That is just brutal to watch.

The reason the ball ended up in Mike's hands was because he passed it to him.

Play 1. Jared has an iso on the wing with roughly 12-15 seconds left on the shotclock. They cleared out the side for him and he passed it back to Mike. Made 0 effort to be a scorer. Mike ended up having to try and create at the end of the shot clock and it didnt work.

Play 2. Jared caught the ball between the FT lone and top of the key and once again didnt look to score.

Mike won't give the ball up at the end of games. It's not like other players aren't open. He just drives it to the lane trying to do it himself which NEVER works.

If I'm Uthoff I'm upset that I'm not playing better. I'm upset that the team isn't playing better. I'm disappointed that at least 1 of the goals going into the season is no longer attainable. And most of all...I'm sick of being asked the same questions after every game for the last 5 games.

^^^^This is exactly what I witnessed.

he passed it to mike with a few seconds on the shot clock in one of the later plays of the game. that's just putting your team mate in a bad situation.

I'll agree, but what else is he supposed to do? No one else is getting open for him to pass to, and those he does pass to pass it right back to him. Even Uthoff did that yesterday - got the pass from Mike where he had an open shot and a cleared side of the court and ended up passing back to Mike.

Yeah, I'm sure that was Uthoff's idea to use himself as a screener on the play where Mike couldn't finish as the basket yet again.

When he fell down, trying to draw a whistle at a time when refs tend to swallow their whistles, he was not able to do the "roll" or "pop" part of the "pick & roll" or "pick and pop". Using him as a screener to get a mismatch (which would have worked as they switched on that play) is a good strategy until the guy falls down.

Yes, it was a physical play. But he's played enough that he should know that at the end of the game physical play is the norm.

What games are you watching? He's looking but no one is getting open. Granted, the entire team waits to start the play too deep into the shot clock, but with no one getting open how is that on Mike?

Spot on. Both times as soon as Uthoff touched the ball he passed it back to Mike. There is a reason he is no longer at Wisconsin & Hawk fans are finding out why!

I also remember Uthoff passing it off to Mike towards the end. I also remember saying to myself "what?" Time was winding down and someone was going to have to create his own shot and he's the best guy to do that not Mike. At some point the best player has to want it. He's lost confidence and you can tell when he drives to the basket. As he nears the basket he pulls up and throws up some awkward shot rather than continuing to take it strong. That's confidence. Dom Uhl was showcasing better moves to the basket than Uthoff. He's no doubt the most skilled player on the team but is lacking the leadership this team needs down the stretch. They all look to him. Throw out Mike's uncharacteristic scoring night and it's probably not even a close game. All is not lost (except for the B1G title) but this team could still do good things in March and a win against Indiana tomorrow would be a good start.

Why do you keep saying there is a reason he is no longer at UW? There is a reason Bo Ryan threw such a stink when he left and it wasn't because he wanted him gone. It might have cost UW a national championship. There was an article in the Madison paper last week about how all the UW players thought JU was going to be the great player when he was practicing as a freshman.

I've been as ticked as the next guy lately with JUs soft play but saying UW wanted him gone is absolutely a clueless statement, but I think you knew that.
