OGLESBY BREAKS FOOT, OUT APPROXIMATELY 6 WEEKS

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa head basketball coach Fran McCaffery announced today that junior Josh Oglesby broke a bone in his right foot during Wednesday night’s practice. The shooting guard is scheduled to have surgery today and is expected to miss approximately six weeks.

Oglesby (6-foot-5, 208 pounds) played in 37 contests, including two starts, a year ago. The native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, scored 126 of his 165 points from 3-point territory his sophomore campaign.

“Josh has played great in preseason practices and this is an unfortunate setback,â€￾ said McCaffery. “We expect Josh to make a full recovery and look forward to him returning in time for conference play.â€￾

Iowa opens its season tonight when it hosts UNC Wilmington at 8:32 p.m. (CT) on Mediacom Court at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Wonder if he will get a RS this year. He may be looking at mid Jan before he is in game condition, not sure at that point if it is better for him to wait out the season.

Oh crap. We're toast. I apologize, this is what I get for being too arrogant earlier this year. I revise my prediction from B1G title contender to 6th or 7th in conference.

This would be a regular redshirt and not a medical redshirt, right? If he has the shirt available, might as well use it and then get him ready for the run next year assuming we don't lose Jok to the draft. If Jok looks like a one and done, we probably will need to get Josh back by late January so he will be in prime shape for our March/April run this year.

dang your crap is getting old.
Let me guess, you were all in Mr. Davis's ear about not redshirting Bartels back when he was dinged up. Bartels did, indeed, redshirt that year and then as a 5th year senior, he played a critical role in a deep NIT run.

Six weeks, he will miss the Atlantis tournament, the Notre Dame and ISU games, but will be back for the Big Ten.....

Hopefully his play will not be tentative after coming back. We should be alright with the number of players and combos we can throw at the opponents. Hopefully Jok will find his groove. I do believe he will. I am not worried about Uthoff at all. He will become a serious factor for the team.....

Were you recently laid off? Because your posts recently reek of boredom. It's like you're not even trying anymore.
