People always talk about how great of a shooter he is. Does he always lean back when he shoots the ball?
Fran has talked a lot about Josh's shooting prowess in practice. I hope he turns it around.
He shot a respectable .372 from three last season, but he was 17-24 from beyond the arc in four double-digit losses or in other words when the lights weren't so bright and nothing was on the line. Taking away those four games, he was 28 of 97 in the other 31 games.
Jeff Horner was not a good three point shooter as a frosh or the first half of his soph season...then he went on a 50% tear for the next calendar year. It can happen, but he does have a funky form to his shot.
JO is one fade away three from getting his confidence back... I am not even remotely saying i am the same shooter he is but when I was in a slump I often hit a terribly formed, fade away three from getting out of my slump. He is gonna bust out of it and it will be on a big stage

"Give his minutes to some one eles."
yeah, let's roast the kid 3 games into his soph season and give his minutes to someone else. When he shot the ball well last season, there was no pressure and he was just firing away when the Hawks were down big. This is a young team that is still working out it's kinks and the outside shot will fall, and when it doesn't, we can score in other ways.
I think many on here are thinking of Oglesby as purely one-dimensional. Yes, when he's not making the three, it will be hard for him to find minutes over Clemmons, May, etc.; but he has decent handles and a nice mid-range game. I specifically remember him providing a spark doing these things in our loss at Illinois last year.
He may be relegated to a <10min/game role player as long as he's slumping, but 'role player' is far from 'waste of space.'
You may or may not be right about "decent handle and mid-range game." Problem is, we don't need that. We need a 3 pt sniper.
FM claimed, during the post game interview, that JO "kills it" in practice so he is not worried about perimeter shooting. Given FM's penchant for hyperbole, I'm worried.
At this time I feel better with Marble or McCabe shooting 3's than JO.
My only solace is that it is still early. He's been a good shooter. Shooters don't forget how to shoot. *gulp*
The lights aren't so brights when we're playing borderline D-2 schools either.
I know a kid who killed it in practices both at UI and ISU. We all know how that translated to games. I won't put JO in that category yet, however.
