For those people that are confused. TJ is a redshirt sophomore. This is his 3rd year at Iowa. He was in the same '16 recruiting class as Noah Fant.

His play at the position will grade out better than Fant but Fant's measurables will see him drafted higher. I could see Hock getting drafted in the 3rd round. Easily. He catches everything. He can run after catch. He blocks at the point of attack.

No clue if he would go. I hope not but if I was a lock for 1st round, or guaranteed $...even though I love Iowa....It'd be really tough to not go and be set for life at 22-23 years old.

Hope he stays, hes my favorite current Hawk.

TJ might want to take out football injury insurance if he wants to keep playing at Iowa. Not sure what the premiums are for a 1 or $2 million dollar policy but he really looks like he is worth it.

As noted, great hands, can run with better than safety speed in college, I love to watch his blocks on replay as he just walls guys off.

When you think about the20-30 million people making $10 an hour and even if they work 8 hours a day for 50 weeks a year they only make $800,000 in 40 years.

A young man who can make $2 million in a few years definitely needs to look at taking or protecting that monetary future.

I'd like to see some beat reporter with balls ask Kirk at this coming Tuesdays presser if he thinks Fant and Hoch will leave early for the draft.

Fant's testing numbers are freakish for a TE. Tough to compare anyone to that. Hockenson will test very well.

I think he'll test well. And his game film will grade out excellent too. If he gets the itch to test the waters, I fear he's gone too.

There are no reporters like this in Iowa. They will kiss up to Kirk as they always do. Don't want to upset the Kirk...might make his evening swim through the money banks a bit less enjoyable.

My view of this offense completely changes if Hock leaves. Nothing against Weiting and Beyer, but Hock is a special talent. Other than maybe ISM, there will be no big play element left on this offense if Hock leaves.

I agree Hockenson would go in round 3 or 4, but if he stays, as a Junior, he likely goes in the 1st round if he keeps putting up these numbers. Fant's blocking kind of sucks to be honest. I've watched him alot, and its not like he's trying to destroy anyone...like Hockenson will.

I would be very, very surprised if Hockenson leaves. Insurance policies are recommended by the coaches and I know every year there are guys that have them. Scherff for example had one.

Lol. Since you know that you’d never get an answer from KF, as a reporter why would you purposely do that?

Piss people off that you have to talk to every week, especially when they don’t want to talk to you in the first place?

Basically you’re calling out reporters for not being smartasses and embarrassing themselves in front of colleagues and a coaching staff that’s on the defensive all season long anyway. I like you guys and everything, but no way am I going to make my professional life more difficult for any of you fuckers.

And when it comes down to it, you know full well if you were in that building in front of the coaching staff and cameras you wouldn’t have the stones to do it either. I also wouldn’t, but I can admit it.

You know where he lives, go take your iPhone, knock on his door and ask the guy. Post it here and when you do I’ll write a check to the children’s hospital for a thousand bucks. Neither of you have the scrotum to do it.

I've wondered where his head is at in regards to going pro might be. He's a do it all TE. He's going to have stats and pedigree going for him. His measurables and all that will be plenty good enough to be a 3rd round or better player. Question is does he want to get his NFL clock started on a 3rd rd or so contract or come back and possibly bump it up to 2nd or 1st round level. But in doing so he'll be risking another year of injury and delaying the of starting his NFL career. Having a season at Iowa without Fant next yr may or may not help him... He gets some open looks due to Fant being out there a lot. He has a lot to think about this off season that's for sure...

If he's getting so many open looks because of Fant...why are so many people bitching about Fant not getting reps?

I can't speak for either of those two, but if you knew me, you'd know I'd ask that type of question in a heartbeat. Additionally, that question isn't exactly smartassy or a question that would be embarrassing for the reporter or Kirk. Are you confusing it with a different comment?

It's not that Fant isn't getting reps it's that his family always want more more more… Iowa rotates him in and out to keep him fresh and he's not that great at blocking... I don't think Iowa isn't playing him to any egregiously low amount of snaps. In fact I would think resting some would only benefit him but that's just me...

I think Hockenson has the speed and quickness of a Dallas Clark type. Maybe even better blocking. Fant has the vertical and size factor. Both have measurables, but a little different, IMO.

Right now, Fant takes the primary attention of opposing defenses. Just think of him on an NFL field with a legitimate WR cast and he's the 4th wheel in the offense. He could put up some numbers.

Two words: Jake Butt

TJ: Don't have some blind sense of allegiance. Go and get yourself set up for life.
