!*****Official Regis U of Denver @ Iowa u of City exhibition game thread*****!

Wrote this a while ago, before the game started.....

It is a good thing to have competition among the players. This prepares the players for actual game experience. It would be very nice to have two point guards, each who bring their own style to the game. Christian likes to take it to the basket and has a nice medium range shot. Jordan may be a deadly sniper from three range. Both seem to handle the ball well. This will improve with actual gametime experience.

I don't think Fran was saying that Cook was better than Wagner. He was simply saying that he is the best freshman he has had at Iowa. That includes everyone else, not just Wagner. I would like to know who is a better freshman that Fran has coached elsewhere.

Going to be an interesting season. In a way it is a nice thing to have no Final Four expectations. This season we can enjoy the constant improvement and the occasional upset. I am ready for this.

Bring It Hawks.....

So Moss got very few mins. Did anyone watch? Was he overhyped? His highlights made it look like he would be decent contributor. What is going on with him?

I see plenty of physical skills. My guess is that it's more of a mental issue. I read somewhere that his high school didn't run a very organized offense exactly, so maybe he's really behind the curve, who knows?

It was sloppy out there but overall saw some good things. Here are my takeaways:

1. The Jok/Cook combo is going to be very good. One inside, one outside, very tough to defend.

2. Baer needs to start. I was totally in the bring Baer off the bench camp, but he's too good not to start. In my mind he's clearly our 3rd best player. He's such a heady player, which is something this young team really needs.

3. After Jok and Cook, we have plenty of guys capable of chipping in 10 points on any given night, and we are going to need that. Williams, Baer, Uhl, and Wagner showed signs offensively. Jones had an off night, but he will come around.

4. I still think this team has Tourney talent. These young kids are going to need to grow up in a hurry, though. I could see us struggling in the Non-Conference, and that might be tough to rebound from in a tough conference. Let's go boys!
