Official Natty Champ Game - Go Tigers Thread

Interesting that as good as clemson has been Herbstreit says they didnt have the vertical passing game last year. they changed QBs and I am not saying this is a we should bench Nate post. My point is that in 2018 I thought we didnt take near enough deep shots.

I thougth there were many times we could have had both fant and hock going deep on the hashes and both threaten the safeties, then have ism going down one sideline

Man the clemson QB has a gun, as someone said great mechanics, and if he can read defenses etc he will be gone in 3 years

would suck to be an non Clemson ACC fan. You don't have a chance at winning the conference until at least 3 more seasons

Incase you were wondering how important offense is in cfb today, this game is exhibit a. Defense isn’t nearly as important as it once was and you need to score points to win in football today.
Boy this didn't age well AT ALL. Stay in your lane.

Yes one team and their DC knew how to put the clamps on Bama. Bama just doesnt have the run game anymore like when they had those great backs and QBs like I think McCarron and Mcilroy under center in a power I.

Sure, okay LaVar.

Clemson’s defense dominated them in the redzone with the help of some baffling play calling, sure. Clemson also put up 44pts.

The original point is that you can’t build your team around defense and have offense as an after thought. OU had the 114th ranked defense and made the CFP. Meanwhile, the worst offense, ND, was ranked 32nd. Having a good defense meaningless if you don’t have a top tier offense. If you have both, you win a Natty. Just ask our bowl opponent, Miss St., what having the #1 ranked defense gets you. Nothing. #1 offense gets you an playoff birth.

OU being out boat raced due to allowing Bama to get out to a 21 - 0 lead in the 1st quarter. Defense matters. You saw a prime example of it last night. Everything between the 20's literally means nothing. Are you new to Iowa bend don't break like D over the past 20 years or are you having a stroke?

Thanks. I wondered who that guy was. Shouldn't he spending more time with Colton? :p

Defense matters. But Offense matters so much more. Iowa needs to adapt as a program if they hope to have any success in the Big 10. Just look at the scores of our games against the teams with the new offensive minded coaches in the league.

vs Minn 48-31
vs Purdue 38-36
vs Nebby 31-28

Those games were high scoring. Their offensive schemes can beat our good defensive schemes. This is what football looks like around most of the country now and Big 10 is starting to fall into line.

Crazy thing is the Nebraska game was in lousy weather. You used to be able to count on a weather assist, but unless it's super cold and windy, I'm not sure you can count on that anymore.

I'm sorry but scoring in the 30's isn't "high scoring" it hasn't been for a long time either.
