***OFFICIAL IOWA VS SPARTY PREDICTION THREAD***

Iowa 20 MSU 13

Old school football the kinda game KF excels at........ultra conservative moves pay off in this one.

Ok...I'm going to say it...i gotta bad feeling about this game. I hope I'm wrong...i really do, but I think Sparty presents a couple of unique challenges for us. First off, their corners will play physical and man up with our WR...I'm just not sure we have a guy that can beat them deep, other than Powell, but I expect them to maul him at the line of scrimmage. To beat that coverage you have to make them pay over the top once in awhile. Can we get someone open in their press coverage.

The second issue is that our offensive guards (mostly Walsh and Boffeli) have had issues with large bull rushing tackles...well, Sparty has 3-4 of them that are pretty active. If the pocket collapses, Rudock won't have much opportunity for timing throws and it's going to be improvise time. It's hard to do that consistently against a good defense.

Lastly, Sparty can stop the run...and I expect them to commit to it big time...Rudock is going to have to throw them out of that scheme...if they are getting pressure...this is going to be difficult. Our offense hasn't played anyone this good in the front seven.

The road game at Minnesota didn't bother me and I felt we would win by two touchdowns at least...well, this game has me kind of freaked that a few of our weaknesses will be really exploited on offense.

I don't mean to rain on the parade, but for some reason, my thoughts are somewhat negative and that's unusual...see my signature.

I don't think this will be as close and low scoring as some people think. Roodock carves them up by hitting receivers all over the field. Hawks win. No score projection

Going up against one of it not best secondary in all of NCAA football i highly doubt this happens...that being said....MStates only TD comes off a pick 6..

Iowa 19

Mstate 10

MSUs defense hasn't faced a good team yet. ND is highly overrated. Don't get me wrong they have a very good D but not any better than last year and Iowa beat them last year on the road with a much worse offense and not as good of defense as they have this year. The best run game they have faced is ND and they aren't that good I think they only average about 130 or so a game on the ground.
Agree with this and I'll say IOWA 24 sparty 10

What a difference a week makes in the prediction thread. I have never and will never "predict" a Hawk loss. An early lead is critically important IMO. Finish drives in the red zone, win field position battle, don't give up big play...Hawks win.

I'll wait until the weather report tomorrow. Dry ball and no wind helps both quarterbacks. A little rain won't bother things a lot, but wind can definitely put a damper on things.

I like the 24-10/24-13 predictions....Iowa.

MSU won't be able to run. And they can't pass worth a hoot.

It'll be mostly Iowa in the stats battle.

Hawks, 6-3 in overtime. Neither team advances into the red zone all day. Iowa puts together the only sustained drive of the game, but settles for a FG. State returns one kickoff to the Iowa 25, stalls for three plays, kicks a field goal, and doesn't cross midfield the rest of the game. Then they turn it over in overtime and Meyer kicks an OT game winner.

only exaggerated a little. But really, I can't see this game being as high-scoring as the Minnesota game was. This is likely the strongest defense we will face this year, but as for Sparty scoring on us, I may have to see it to believe it. How about Iowa wins 15-13 on a walk off touchdown, Rudock to K-Mart on the slant.

Hawks 24-13. The crowd and MSU"s offensive problems make it low scoring for them. It is imperative that the hawks score first and get that pressure on msu.

I havent heard much about msu but I think Iowa can stop their run game and their pass game is not very efficient.
