Official Iowa v Michigan Game Thread

Hey Dakich, Iowa didn't lose. Talking about what they would have needed to do if they lost is hawkeyenation.com level of stupid.

He is a loudmouthed obnoxious A****** who talks entirely too much and loves to get a reaction from the listeners especially if it will make them angry. The other night against OSU, he was talking like he was on speed, it was hard to concentrate on the game. I muted the game.....

Well, that's how I feel about Dakich, lot of people like him.,....

After Iowa's hot start I refused to join the game thread for fear of jinxing it all...Hawks looked great and I loved it when Woody "shhh"d the critics after his dunk. Glass half full HawkeyeShane loves the win because we needed it while glass half empty HawkeyeShane wonders "where the hell was THIS the past 2 home games???"...way to go Hawkeyes!

18 point victory.....against a good team.

Like I've been saying....we'll be just fine.

Booyaa.

Devyn coming back, stopping Stauskas and playing Mike G a long tiime helped. Few turnovers, making free throws and maintaining concentration and composure saved the day.....

This is approximately when we start to improve to the end of the season. We really kept it together and played Tough, Michigan wasn't ready for us. We lost by 8 points in Ann Arbor. They were slaughtered here. Hang your heads, Punks.....

We turned the corner and learned how to concentrate and play tough the entire game. No more geting pushed around for the Hawks.....

This should call for a few pitchers and a tavern wench in MTown......

I like the way you think, Jack! I better check my roofies stockpile...

Edit: I didn't mean to type out that second thought...

Coach to the end of the game if you want your players to play hard.

It could be he wants the team to maintain their focus until with final whistle. No more mistakes due to mental error, stay tough until the very end. Time to stop giving our games away.....

Up until then he was The Old World Gentleman.....

I'm not sure this team is truly over the hump (they've got to gut out a tough win against Wisconsin, Minnesota or MSU before I feel confident about saying that), but this did look like a team that is finally, truly sick of losing. They didn't come to play today; they came to kill. Definitely an encouraging sign of life.

Flashes of greatness here and there. It seems that they can but will they on a consistent basis or when it matters most? Maybe the only deficit is between the ears.

I'm noT totally convinced 'Iowa' 'turned the corner' today.

I would say that Marble carried Iowa today and the rest supported him very well. Anytime 1 guy goes for 22pts in 1H and goes 6-10 it's pretty safe to sat 'that' guy beat us today.

Plus, I think it's just easier to play when you have a 20 lead for most of the game. Elite guys like Olesani seem to always get his, but the role players ( and Iowa has a lot of them) seem to play better.

For me to say they have turned the corner, is going to take games like at Illiinois, where they had to fight back late, or to win a tight game late, vs Wisky or MSU, where there are many real clutch late game stops, rebounds, blocks, assists, help defense, ft made, and heroic shots converted.

Sure, 25 pt wins vs top teams should be recognized for what they are, dominance. But, the 2-3 pt win late vs Wisky, on road at MN, or at MSU, will seem to tell me they've turned the corner in close and late vs elite competition.

I agree. Let's get a 20 point lead every game and make it easy to play...."

Funny thing is, Iowa has had other 20pt and big leads this yr, but couldn't close in tight and late vs elite.
Can beat IL and Xavier in tight and late, but not ISU, MSU, and all the others in tight and late vs elite.

I'd like to see that vs Wisky and MSU...

Valid point. Then it could be that it had nothing to do with the lead. We just played a heck of a game.

The real test will be at Assembly Hall in 10 days. Iowa runningbthem their on the road would also be another nice sign
