Can he teach them to pass the ball?
NO! Not any development, that includes passing!
Can he teach them to pass the ball?
Can he teach them to pass the ball?
I really hope Drake keeps playing well and somehow becomes a top 50 team. Also, if we beat Iowa State at Hilton I will pee.
If you don't pee before Friday.......better call a doctor!
Blew out a team that made a dozen 3's, all the while only hitting less than 20% on your own. That has to say something doesn't it?
7 assists. The entire team. That's not good.
If there is no reason to pass it to score.....
I know that. I think we have a lot of players on the roster that are good at passing the ball (non PGs). White, Uthoff, Jok, Marble and even Woody has shown that skill. We are going to get into some games where the extra passes will open up the half court offense. That's what we were doing really well at the end of last season.
I will do the same.I really hope Drake keeps playing well and somehow becomes a top 50 team. Also, if we beat Iowa State at Hilton I will pee.
So what was your original point then????
Enlighten me please...Iowa shares the ball well, no need to worry about it in a game where every player went where they wanted off the dribble.
I would like to see more passing in the half court offense. Post players benefit the most from that extra pass or 2 because that's when they are open around the rim, when their defender leaves to help defend. In case you haven't noticed, our post players average 5 ppg, 6.8 ppg and 6.4 ppg (Woody, Gabe and Mel, respectively).
Extra passes to our post players do several things: It causes fouls on other teams post players. It increases offensive efficiency by providing higher percentage shots. It provides better looks for our perimeter players and it makes us a better team. In college basketball, all things are not equal. If you have elite talent, you can have a lower assist/TO ratio and still win lots of games. We have a lot of good talent but not enough elite talent to get to where I (and hopefully, you) want us to go. That is deep into the NCAA tournament, after we win a BIG title.
But what do I know? I will let some of these links "enlighten" you.

Here's a link to Fran McCaffery's book and an excerpt "

[*=left]Use your forwards in the short corner as feeders and scoring options to create easy scores from the low post"........I could have sworn I heard something similar to that in this very thread. Can anyone help me recall who said that? No??? Nobody???
I could go on and on providing links and quoting hall of fame coaches, in an effort to "enlighten you" but I'm tired. Maybe tomorrow I will provide some more, if Fran mcCaffery's own book doesn't convince you. Have a good night.
