Official: Hundertmark Leaves Iowa

Junior offensive lineman Cody Hundertmark has decided to leave the University of Iowa football team to concentrate on academics. The announcement came today from Head Coach Kirk Ferentz.

Hundertmark, a 6-4, 285-pounder from Humboldt, IA, is a Management and Finance major at the University. He had lettered once with the Hawkeyes.

That's too bad but at least he's leaving the team for a good reason.

Who is replacing him in the 2-deeps? With Gettis already winged with an injury, the depth will be important at that guard position.

Probably more like. He started on defense and that didn't work out, they gave him a chance to try it out on O. He looked somewhat promising, but probably saw that in the long run, it just wasn't going to go anywhere.

Iowa has had other guys go down the same road. They gave it their best and it didn't work out. Something makes me think it is probably more than you have done.

i work in a large healthcare organization. one of my contacts, in idaho, played de for hayden. his senior year he was set to start after toiling for four years. he had to walk away b/c his desire to become a Pharm D was greater than his desire to start his senior year. great guy with a wonderful family enjoying the rest of his life. we try to squeeze in a little business whenever he calls but mostly we talk hawks and ic. i won't tell you he hasn't admitted a slight twinge of pain when reflecting on his decision but he said he wound't change it even if he could go back again.
