Official Extend Brian Through 2026 Thread

Misery loves company.

I'm not miserable at all. I still follow Iowa football online, but I stopped watching games for the most part 3 or 4 years ago. Ferentz had taken the fun out of it for me. When he leaves I'll start watching again unless his kid gets the job, which unfortunately is probably very likely.

I know a lot of folks love Kirk which I'm fine with, he's a decent coach although not a great one. But he's been generally uninspiring for quite a while now. Case in point; he had a great run in 2002-2004, and finished each of those seasons ranked in the top 10. Want to know how many times he's finished a season ranked in the top 25 since? Three times; three seasons ending ranked in the top 25 in the last 13 seasons. Not to mention 5 bowl losses in a row until today.

All that said I'm happy they won today. Nice to put an end to the bowl skid.

Bump to see if Barta has taken any steps in the past 12 hours to sew up Brian’s talents and ensure the coaching line of succession. Any word?

A source close to the program says that the hold up is trying to find Brian's 2 year old son John a way to progress as a member of the staff. Right now Brian wants tee retriever, to ball boy, to player, to grad assistant, to OL coach to OC to head coach in 2056.

Great second half, good game, good win capping off a decent season. I'm not delighted but I am satisfied.

All of you who are sick of Ferentz... Hawkeye fans don't care. Don't watch. They'll fill the stadiums without you. They'll continue to win consistently in college football year in and out, without you. You don't like Ferentz and NO ONE CARES

Can’t we enjoy this without your crap?
Enjoy what exactly? Another mediocre season [5 losses] that saw nothing change from game one to 13 and a stunning come from behind Pinstripe Bowl win over something called BU in the ice and snow? RAH....don't celebrate too hard.........

If you can’t enjoy a Hawkeye bowl win then find another team to root for that can meet your expectations. Just don’t ruin it for me.

I do enjoy the win. In case you can't tell, I get a little manic depressive watching Iowa. All true Hawk fans do. I must have heard 100 people at the OSU game say "I just wish it was over" at halftime, not knowing the enjoyment that was awaiting us in the second half!
So because I don't bitch and moan 50% of the time, I'm not a true Hawk fan. Got it.

Agreed. This is exactly why I didn't watch the game.

Judging by the postgame activity on this board I'm assuming a lot of other Iowa fans joined me.

A lot ? I wouldn’t go that far Blue.. We have few trolls that are just very loud and post an awful lot

I dont think the stadium was full at the end of the season. Tickets were sold, but didnt about 10k stay home against Purdue?

This isnt about wins and losses anymore. And you guys seem to miss that point. We are all Hawk fans. That is why we are here.
But this is about coaching. We had a very talented group of players this season. And many feel that this talent was mis-used. AGAIN.

Some of us are tired of watching a 1950s product. Its the same thing over and over, with little deviation. What we did last night, we did in 1999. There is no changing with the times. Or changing because of a different set of skills our players have.

As an example, when we had Shonn Greene, hammering him into the line always got us 4 yards and set us up for a lot of 3rd and shorts. Doing the exact same thing with a scat back that is 195 pounds, didnt get the same results. Yet we continued to do it. We didnt change or adapt.

It was nice to win. Dont get me wrong. But it was boring to watch.

Stadiums not selling out isn't unique to Iowa. They are still printing money in IC, building bigger facilities and adding on. That's not because Ferentz isn't getting it done. Many feel that talent, ya know that wasn't ranked nearly high enough for Iowa to have won 28 games the last 3 seasons, was maximized to every last drop with development, training and coaching. We did have a very talented group of players this season. They played well. Winning 8 games against that schedule is nothing to be disappointed about considering a lot of the factors that came with this season. New OC, first year starting QB and losing 2 5th year starting tackles.

I will never agree with the "boring to watch" crowd..... who gives a f if they win.
