Officals have it so hard.

They can't be expected to call every kick that takes place 5 feet from their face while looking straight at it, its just too hard.

Lets cut them some slack. Its hard to decided whether downward slaps on the arm are fouls or not... when you are looking right at them happening.

What a joke.

These refs obviously decided to let them play at first, but then it got away from them so they started calling ticky-tack fouls and it completely changed the tone of the game.

John Higgins had two of the worst calls of the game so far right in front of him. Called a travel on Michigan when L'ville trapped and then missed a kicked ball at the 3 point line. Dude has no business being in this game.

It is half time.

At this point I have reached a conclusion that the NCAA prefers officials that allow physical play. The idea of calling a reach in or hand check obviously are no longer part of college basketball.

Lou gets away with a TON of riding the ball handlers and just flat out hacking the crap out of them.

this. and i don't know why.

That "foul" on that block was just awful. Why would we want to reward a fantastic basketball play anyways?

I just read a lot of the posts from last nites game and especially the officiating. I agree.

Wow, where do you start in describing how bad those refs were. Both ways but I think in the second half they just let the 'ville mug michigan. Every rebound that mich clearly grabbed there were 2-3 'ville players totally fouling the guy with the ball until they ripped it free, and no call.

The handchecking, grabbing and bumping on ball handlers and even guys cutting was terrible. And yet they call some ticky tack fouls .

And the amount of slapping at the ball is crazy because that used to be an almost automatic foul.

If you watched the reaction of the 'ville players they couldnt believe they were getting called especially in the second half but then on the replays you could see them fouling 5 times before one was called.

And how could they miss that goaltending early in the game when ball picked off the glass?

I am sorry but I just do not understand how we have gotten to the point that it is ok to defensive player to put a hand on the guy with the ball before they drive. When the player has to constantly swat away the arm of the defender isn’t it a foul?

The NCAA has let the players and coaches dictate the way the game is now called on D. The officials let them get away with it and then start calling it at strange times. Call it or don't.

In my opinion collage officiating is letting to much grabbing touching and bumping on D. I hope the address it in the off season. Someone mentioned that they are looking at more of an NBA style of officiating these issues. I hope that this is true.

They need to just start calling all fouls next season. Let everyone foul out for the first two months until they get it.

The hand checking is completely out of control.

College ball is where the nba was in the 90s with constant hand chekcing. The nba successfully cleaned this problem up, the ncaa needs to follow their lead.

Last night has to be one of the worst officiated games I've possibly ever seen. And I'm talking about from both sides. They let all kinds of obvious violations go like traveling and kicking the ball, and hand-checking pretty much all game, and then call a foul on a ridiculously good and clean block by Burke. What the hell? Just absolutely turrible as Sir Charles would say.

Duff. Whats up with this stuff/your opinion? Do you call this in games or discuss the hand checking with fellow refs at meetings? I know you're HS but is this bad at that level? Serious question.
