Offense has been kept under wraps

Nobody has speculated to date that Davis and Ferentz (Davrentz) have simply opted for minimal variation by design. Afterall the conference teams are the ones Iowa really needs to beat. Is it possible, is it probably or is it conceivable that Davrentz has been being coy and we'll see a whole lotta shakin when the hawks play against BigTen opponents.

It's possible that there's parts of the playbook that haven't been used yet. However, the Hawks have definitely been frustrated with what they have been using. Last week against UNI started to look better in terms of the receivers being on the same page. I suspect they'll use more of the playbook the more comfortable they start to get in Davis's offense. Any plays that have been held back are probably more complex. They have to get the basic stuff down first.

No coach in their right mind is going to hold back plays if they're getting whooped by teams they have no business losing to.

I would hope we are not "holding back" for the Big 10 season. If so, we are in trouble because right now our offense can't even run the basics.

If anything has been kept under wraps its been done so by the players lack of ability to execute it properly no the coaches holding some back.

The staff has done such a great job of keeping the offense under wraps not even the players know what it's all about.

Agree with this. The playbook may expand as the season progresses, but it isn't a cat and mouse game, its player ability and execution.

I like the OPs optimism, but agree with the last several posters. If we lost to Iowa State because we didn't want to tip our hand, then I'm officially in rabble rabble rabble mode.

At any point while you typed this did you think your thinking was absurd? If you didn't, I'm sorry. If what you suggest was true, then the coaches have kept it under wraps all spring and summer too. Did the coaches ask Vandy to throw skip passes and the WR to drop balls too to keep the O under wraps?

Interesting. Kinda weird though why KF is like 2 games under .500 against ISU in his career when he is on only his 2nd OC, but yet, ISU has had 3 different head coaches and numerous OC's in that same timeframe.

ISU has a new OC this year too.

Well, ISU ISU ISU blah blah blah go back to cyfan for your clown circle jerk. Nobody here cares. We played 2 weeks ago get over it.
Oh wait, that's right, you can't get over it cause it's your SUPER BOWL!! Thanks for proving it again.

agree with Duff and others above.

once the younger receivers learn the new O, we'll be busting out some new things. but they can't even get a lot of the basics down yet, so no need to roll out new stuff yet.

If your right than I'm ready for a new coaching staff, one that wants to win games. Especially games they should.

Yes. Before, during and after hitting "post"
