I look at thumbs up received versus thumbs down received to determine whether I want to read posts in the first instance. Given that someone is out there stomping on my rep, I'm not happy. Heck, I got 10 thumb downs just on this page alone and it's only 8:30 in the morning. I'll prolly have a thousand by the end of the day.

Right. And the other problem my ratio idea is that a person could widely distribute tons of thumbs up to many posters, but then target one victim for all of their thumbs down.
Admittedly, my idea wasn't well thought out.

How did this thread get to this point? It got here because you made a personal attack. Then, you proceeded to hit me with a bunch of thumb downs and I pointed it out.
And it's easy for you to sit there and call this function a good addition when you don't have a bunch of red ink all over your profile, but for those of who do have a bunch red ink from your calculated actions, this functionality is terrible.

I went out and gave you a bunch of greens to get you back closer to where you should be.
Currently, you are at approximately a 3:2 ratio which is not indicative of your performance. You should be at a 2:1 or even a 5:2 ratio based on your performance, but I don't have all day to give you thumbs up.
