# of games Iowa will be favored in?

I believe Iowa will be favored in 10 games this year. We will be slight underdogs to Penn State and underdogs to Nebraska. Who else?

We should always be underdogs to jNW. We will likely be dogs to MSU an Um as well. We lost a lot of starters to a very averange team last year.

It's all going to depend on how we play. If we're 7-1 when Michigan comes to down, I'd bet we'd be the favorites. But there's no way to know.

I'm taking it one game at a time this year. I'm not going to get burned like I did this past fall again.

Totally agree on Iowa as underdogs to NW, MSU and Michigan. Not to say as underdogs the Hawks will not beat MSU, Michigan and possibly NW at home. I think the Hawks will beat MSU and Michigan but lose to NW at home.

I think the national and probably local media will peg the Hawks as underdogs in the MSU and Michigan games.

I expect the media will also peg Iowa as underdogs at PSU, at Nebraska and possibly at Purdue.

That said, things can change as the season progresses.

Apparently not as many as we might think. I read that Athlon has already come out with prediction that Iowa will finish in 5th in the Legends this year. So I'd guess and say at least four games we won't be favored?

Good. We are an underdog team. The more we are the better off we will be. I hope we are underdogs to everyone!

as far as from night row, I think Iowa will be favored in every one of their home games, their road game at ISU & Minnesota.

They will be an underdog at Lincoln & Happy Valley...Purdue might be a tossup game from an odds perspective. Obviously if Iowa stinks it up early, that will change. And no, I am not picking them 10-2 ;)

You're saying Iowa will be favored over a Northwestern team that returns a lot of starters and returns one of the best QB's in the Big Ten; a team that regularly beats Iowa with less talent (on paper), and this year Iowa is replacing a lot of starters many who will be drafted in a few days (who couldn't beat the Wildcats in each of the past 3 years). Would you like to rethink Iowa being favored over Northwestern, Jon?

Do you know how odds work? Iowa will be favored against NW next year based solely on the fact that Iowa fans will throw money down on the Hawks

NW probably should be favored until Iowa beats them but I would bet Iowa is favored by at least 5 (subject to a million variables obviously)

At home? Yeah, Iowa will and should be favored. If they go 3-2 and NW is undefeated, then maybe not...

Being at home gives you, on average, probably 3 points to the odds makers. Iowa will be favored in that game.

Iowa was favored to beat Northwestern at home in 2008 and 2009. Iowa lost both games. Iowa was favored to beat Northwestern on the road last year but lost.

For whatever reason Northwestern knows how to beat Iowa.

Until Iowa beats Northwestern, the Hawks should be considered underdogs no matter where the game is played, especially in 2011 where Northwestern has a lot of experience and talent returning and Iowa lost a lot of talented, experienced seniors and coming into this season with a young team.

If my recent prediction holds, the Hawks will be 3-2 coming into the NW game. Just a hunch, but I think NW will be favored in this one.

Whether they lost or won in previous years is not important. What IS important is their records at the time and that Iowa is at home. Iowa will be favored.

Hawkeye11en1, but you said in an earlier post if Iowa comes in 3-2 (which I think Iowa will) and Northwestern comes in undefeated then maybe the Hawks will not be favored.

Now you say Iowa will be favored.

So, what you're saying is Northwestern will come in having at least one loss. Is that correct?

I'll go even further than that as long as the two teams have somewhat even records that Iowa will be favored, by somewhere around 5-7 points. If Iowa is an underdog to NW at home, that mean Iowa has really tanked the season, and if that is the case, being 'dogs to the cats will be the last thing on anyones mind.

Hell, if you look at the schedule you could legitimately make a case for Iowa to be favored in every game except Nebraska.

I am saying that Iowa will not be 3-2. They will be at the very least 4-1. I was just stating that the ONLY way for them to not be favored, would be for them to be 3-2 and NW undefeated. And thats still a maybe.

NW could easily come into that game undefeated. Their early schedule is charmin-soft.
