I saw a few reports yesterday that Boone Myers was not on the first-team. He was practicing, however.

The No. 1 unit from left to right was Cole Croston, James Daniels, Austin Blythe, Jordan Walsh and Sean Welsh. If you remember, this was the lineup when the offense ran all over Northwestern with Myers and Boettger sidelined with injury.

I'm still in Iowa City so I'm not sure what there is to this deal but HN will continue to monitor it.

Myers seemed to have a tough game against MSU and I cant remember his output against Nebby. Croston has played well since his first game or so filling in for Myers and he has probably just beat out Myers. Daniels might be practicing great and the coaches think Welsh will do the job at right tackle.

I would love to see whatever unit of players have a great game.

I'm all in favor of it. This is the combo that destroyed Northwestern. Tired of seeing CJ go down and #52 standing there watching him go down.

Thankfully Stanford doesn't have a Calhoun. Few teams do. Myers said he was the best player he's faced since going up against Ott last spring and summer.

My guess is something is up with Myers physically but still looking into that.

My guess is several OL are not 100% and they are working different combo's just in case injury or problems. KF just covering all his bases.

In the 4 games Myers was hurt, Iowa ran 185 times for 926 yards (5.01 ypc) for a per game average of 46.25 carries for 231.5 yards. 2 of those games were against the #4 and #13 run defense in the nation. Stanford is #40. Not worried if he's out. Would love to see everyone healthy, though.

We really have some nice young talent on the OL. Hope one or both of the Paulsens can step up next year, as well.

It will be interesting to see what happens but there's nothing wrong with creating some competition. More than anything else we lost to MSU because their O Line was better than ours. Not only did they not protect CJ, we got a season low 52 yards. If we want to get over the top, we need to do better.

52 yards..no Canzeri
That hurt the run game
That hurt our offense

Not only that but the roughing the kicker took a few more minutes and great field position from the hawk offense. The offense had terrible field position the whole second half and MSU was pressing the line of scrimmage making it harder to run.

Granted MSU's front 7 was better than the hawks OLine, TEs, and fullback on that night but if the hawks had better field position they could open things up more.

Daniels is a bulldozer in the run game, problem was his pass blocking. If he has developed that portion of his game I say find a way to get the man on the field.
