NW downed by Purdue

Again, NW looks rather mediocre as Purdue beats them at home. IMO, it was only a matter of time as they've skated by some poor teams by the skin of their teeth. Anyone think Iowa doesn't roll this team now?
 


I hate Fat Pitzjerald. He's a fkn poser.
Iowa beats enn-you by three scores this season. :mad:
 






Nwestern seems to be regressing as the season goes on, they should of lost last week as well.

I like pat fitz, he's a good coach albeit a tad loopy.

Why? He is a blatant Hawk hater. Keys on the Iowa game every bit as much as McCarney did. No Iowa fan should like Fitzgerald.
 








They can play like crap all year, but they'll bring their A game when they play us. Never fails. Kinda like ISU. Fitzgerald hates us.
 


We've had the talent to beat these guys the past couple years. That's not the problem.

Problem is, how do we counter the oft terrible luck we seem to run into when jNW week rolls around?
 


Be careful now. I have seen them make us look silly in football and basketball way to much. Can't explain it, but it happens.

A few breaks, penalties, turnovers - could be another L. Its not always who has the best roster.
 




I'm going to Evanston. Hopefully we'll see Iowa win.

However, I fully expect Northwestern to play their best game of the year, and look great. They have a way of doing that when they play Iowa.
 


I absolutely agree that NW highlights the Iowa game every year and they always give us their best shot, but Iowa also has a tendency to help NW out and shoot themselves in the foot every year. I think that if Iowa had taken care of business on their side of the ball (minimized all of the stupid mistakes) over the years, NW may not have beaten Iowa at all.

Iowa was on the verge of smoking them last year- then Stanzi gets hurt. If an unprepared and inexperienced Vandenberg connects on a few more passes here and there, we still beat them.

I think the 2010 Hawkeyes want to put a hurting on NW like no other team. They certainly want to win them all, but I think they will be on a mission when they head to Evanston. This year NW gets Iowa's best shot!
 


Also remember, if the ref sees the guy yank Rick around by his facemask. NW doesn't have the winning points in that game last year as well.
 


And the ''phantom'' holding call on Raphy after Wegher goes for the TD run was also crap.
Fitz is the special teams coach for NW,and last nite we saw how good a coach he is...not. Their special teams were crap all nite.
Fitz's act is wearing thin among the media here in chicagoland.
Like when he lectures the writers about how NW is the best of the ''academic'' football schools over Stanford and ND and Duke.
And when he walks out on a live radio interview earlier this year after the interviewer,a NW grad, asks a tough question...Fitz is an overgrown frat boy,arrogance personified. I enjoyed PU's dusting of NW last nite immensely.
Iowa 48 NW 13 this year. We either lose close or crush them year after year...we are due to crush them.
 


I'll slip in... The reason NU beats Iowa time after time is because of systems. Parker's defensive system can't stop NU's offensive system. NU's time of possession greatly erodes Iowa's time of possession. If Iowa does win, I'll gladly eat my words.

If you're going to use last year's score as a rebuttal to my argument, remember Iowa's and NU's starting quarterbacks were recently hurt.
