For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about:

Kansas State is down 28 to 36 against Syracuse and is driving down the field. They eventually score a TD on a twenty yard catch and run, and the receiver proceeds to give about a 1 second salute to the crowd to celebrate.

The fat ref can't wait to dig into his back pocket and call an excessive celebration, pushing back the two point conversion to the 18 yard line, giving K State almost no chance to tie the game.

Yes, even though the celebration was basically nothing, it technically violates the rule of "drawing attention to yourself."

But the rule is total BS; screw the NCAA for making rules that can decide games and seasons like that.

Now what if that happens in the national title and Auburn or Oregon loses because Cam Newton points into the sky?

Screw the NCAA; overhaul the entire thing.

This ****** me off too... I don't think he really drew attention to himself, in fact I didn't even really notice it. Technically the ref is correct... however, give me a break... how much money did he have riding on the game? To make that call over something controversial at that point in the game.... stupid. If little things like this would be called in every game, there would be multiple penalties in each game. I believe the chest bumping is drawing attention also.

Btw... who here has fond memories of Danan Hughes hitting a homerun after every touchdown?

Couldn't agree with you more, just saw the end of the game as well. Nothing upsets me more than when these refs think they are bigger than the game and take a whole games worth of plays/effort and decide it on an ignorant flag. If I remember right when watching on Auburn game earlier this year, with 45 seconds on the clock (clock continued to run) Cam Newton runs into the end zone and takes his helmet off and celebrates with his fans.... Last time I checked that was a penalty for taking off your helmet while in the field of play. There is no consistency with these guys and the NCAA, how about the NCAA tell these guys to you use a thing called common sense!

It's like a no call at the end of a basketball game on a clear foul. This time they called it. It really ruined what was a very fun game to watch.

I'm not totallyagainst the idea of the rule but it needs to be clearly overhauled to easily definable terms. "Drawaing attention to yourself " could really be called on 50% of the TDs scored.

Cant take helmet off
Can't dive, flip intentionally fall (kneeling does not constitute falling) or lay down into the endzone or once in endzone unless alluding potential tackel.
Can't spike or throw ball after score.
After score teams must leave the endzone area within ____ seconds unless time has expired and the game is over.

A guy wants to make a fake cel phone call, Billy White Shoes it, or Iky Shuffel it for 10 seconds..... let em.

Jeez, this was going to be my post, but my wife called me to supper and that kind of over-rules all else. So anyway, here was what my post was going to be: Ever since one of my kids became a college football Division 1 official I've probably changed my way of looking at officiating in college games. There's lots of technical rules and interpretations that we don't understand. But I think the call at the end of this game was totally wrong. About a minute left, K-State behind by 8, & they score a TD. The receiver makes a quick "salute", & official calls a 15 yard excessive celebration penalty. So they have to go for 2 from the 22. Not good odds there. To lose a bowl game on this call? Terrible!!

That salute was pretty innocent for the excitement of catching a bowl game tying TD at the end of the game.

- they have done more celebrating (including saluting) in the Tenn. vs UNC and no flag whatsoever. What a complete inconsistent joke! Ruined that other game.

Even more appalling is that the officiating crews in both games are B11+1!! One crew calls the most minor "celebrating" gesture against K-State and the other crew lets salutes and the "superman" pose go on big plays and routine touchdowns.

Forget consistency in the NCAA ... can't even get consistency within the B1G 11 officiating!
