now that iowa loses another player before his graduation...

With all the players leaving iowa before their class graduates the last 3 seasons, how does this affect the NCAA mandates that universities must maintain a certain graduation rate over a period of time? Iowa's grduation rate by the time 2012 gets here may be horrible.

Is it too early to tell? too early worry about it? does anyone else care?

What are they going to do? Make us sit out of post season play for a year? :p

Seriously though, I think Iowa needs to get right before they worry about what the NCAA is going to say about their graduation rate...that rule was a farce since its conception anyway and Iowa's transfers can't be much different than NC losing 3 guys early to the NBA every year.

I believe there is more to it.

It depends if the student leaves in good academic standing, if the student graduates from another university, etc...

I am by no means and expert on how it works, but just leaving doesn't hurt there are other factors involved.

Here are some names from the Tom Davis Era that transferred/signed but never made it/left early:

Phil Chime
Fred Brown, Jr
Curtis Cuthpert
Brian Garner
Mark Jewell
Paul Lusk
Dale Reed
Ray Slater
Kevin Smith
Ray Thompson
Joey Range
Guy Rucker
Antonio Ramos

This is an incomplete list. There are others.

Holy crap...I'm officially "getting old" when I remember about 3/4s of those names...

Mainly I just remember me and my friends always saying "I'm Guy Rucker mother *bleep*er"! Dude had the sweetest turn around jumper I'd ever seen...right up til the Kentucky game in the NCAA tourney his freshman year...after that bad night it seemed like he lost confidence in it.

Edit: Hey Jon...does Iowa get some credit back during that era, from Jess Settles' 9 year career? He had to have walked out of the place with 2 degrees and doctorate by the time he was finished!
