I'm ready for the Ferentz era to end after today. This was Brian's season to put up or shut up imo. I think Papabear is holding him back, but I'm over it.
This one's on Kirk. He simply refuses to attack the weaknesses of a defense in favor of doing what he wants to do. Anybody who has watched Wisconsin knows they're very strong up front and weak the the secondary. But Kirk is the only HC dumb enough to try to play Wisconsin in a phone booth.
When BF was finally allowed to attack the DBs, Iowa moved the ball and scored TDs.
Iowa simply has a worthless in-game HC.

Iowa is a pretender, not a contender. They basically win the games they should, but simply cannot win the big ones.

The difference is that Minnesota will be overpowered by Iowa in the trenches, unlike the three games Iowa has lost this season. Iowa's secondary matches up better against the Goofs than Penn State's.

What's sad is that I honestly believe that Kirk in his mind thinks that Iowa football under his leadership thinks we are contenders. We are so average and mediocre that's it's sickening because it's been this way for almost a decade, and Kirk keeps getting away with it.

i can agree with this. but i remember that the mantra was "and brian is the only one who can stand up to his dad..." so, i'm not letting brian off the hook. i mean, is kirk going to fire brian if brian were to go rogue? not buying that brian is frustrated and not happy cuz he's got handcuffs on. in fact, with KOK being brian's training wheels, it feels more like kirk and KOK training brian in the intricacies of being avg. blaming a horrid offense on kirk is one thing, but giving brian a pass is not acceptable, either. if brian wants to be HC at iowa, he needs to go to a mac school and prove he can be a hc for 3-5 seasons with a high level of success. and yes, success means wins. 9 or 10 per season would be evidence.

They won big games on the road. Now we accept moral vicotries for losing by a small amount. Yes, he threw some pick-6's, but he had a WINNER'S ATTITUDE that sometimes literally willed his teams to win.

Sure is. Since Brian took over and Nate became the starter in 2017, we are 1-11 vs teams that finished with a .500 conference record or better. Ohio State is the one and only team we’ve beaten.
Don't agree with that. Minnesota has very talented receivers that are big, athletic, and run great routes. PSU has better defensive backs than us. Minnesota will not be overpowered by our defensive line either. They average 6'6 340 across their Oline, and have greatly improved since earlier in the year.
Wisconsin fell asleep on a couple plays. That's why we actually looked competent on offense.
Our OC and HC are both idiots. They don't have a clue how to game plan.
This is a pretty bold statement considering how poorly Iowa's OL has played all year and after Iowa's DL was absolutely dominated by Wisconsin.
Minnesota's OL pushed PSU around today. And PSU is better across the board on the front 7 than Iowa.
