Notre Dame to join ACC in non-football sports

This is correct and what everyone fails to comprehend. Delany tried to get the B1G to stop playing ND over a decade ago and Michigan told him to go to hell.

Why do people keep forgetting this? No one wants to kill the golden goose. Michigan can afford to drop ND, but MSU and Purdue sure as hell can't.

It's shocking that they didn't go to the Big Xii. Shocking.

The Big Ten isn't going to nine conference games. No way.

Yes they will. They shouldn't, because it creates imbalance in home-road distribution, but they most certainly will. It makes for more sense to go to 10, but Delany is a moron. God, I want him to retire.

Drop Notre Dame - we're too good for this?

Grow up, she didn't want to go to Prom with you, she said no twice, but that doesn't mean she thinks you're an *******.

Do the schools and fans enjoy the game?

Yes.

Than stop having this ridiculous mandate like we're all far too good for them.

We're not.

ND to the Big 12 would not equate to football success for them. So not shocked they
did not go there. Plus I think that his what was holding up the Big 12 TV deal, they
were waiting on ND.. Everybody knew about the TV deal 6 months ago.

The ACC despite have a strong presence in the S.E. is not a great football conference. ND gets the best of both worlds here, they play 5 ACC teams, and they get access to southern recruiting.

Also, the Big Ten needs to stop scheduling Notre Dame in every sport. Period.

I think there was a decent chance this was going to happen in football. I believe Notre Dame's concern with Michigan, Michigan State and Purdue needing to drop them if the B1G goes to 9 game league schedule was a part of this. Mostly, they wanted to keep independence in football and this is the best of all worlds for them, because new playoff system won't require them to join a league.

LOL, what a bunch of sour grapes.

AS i listen to the "official" press conference out of Chapel Hill I have these observations.

Both Swofford the ACC comish and the head high priest of ND have repeated that Notre Dame is "all in", "all on board" "fully commited" except... WHOOOPS football.

What a joke. It's all about money for ND and the ACC and they think they will make more money. (btw I realize Iowa and the Big Ten and the BTN are all about money)

It is really funny to me that ND goes from being all out in the Big East and to all out to the ACC.

There is nothing left to be sold in "amatuer-NCAA-athletics... except for the academics, the integrity, the kids (esp in FB who do later suffer) and the souls.

What a minute...it's either been sold or will be sold.

How do you view yourself as a strong conference when you allow a bunch of arrogant p&^%#s from ND to dictate that they will ONLY join in certain sports? To me the whole thing is rediculous. Nothing says Atlantic Coast like Indiana. Some of these conferences have lost their minds.

Unbridled greed will do that.

I'm a fan of Iowa, a fan of the B1G as well but I also see the writing on the wall. The B1G is a diminished league. It is done competing for National Championships, maybe Ohio St still can occasionally. That's what they are. They decided that other things mattered more. That's fine, that's ok, but lets not expect elite athletic status with such self limiting parameters and massive exterior challenges such as population shift and the propaganda machine of ESPiN and the SEC.

You've been saying this in multiple threads. Yet you continue to contradict your own beliefs by always adding, OSU will play for more national titles. If OSU as a member of the B1G wins a national title in the next couple of years, what keeps the B1G from being the best conference that year? The fact the SEC has an even record against the B1G the last decade? The only place the B1G has not competed with the SEC is for the title, yet most people claiming the B1G can no longer keep up with the talent in the south also believe OSU will win another one soon.

Does anyone else see the outrageous expense to leave the ACC as extortion or something? The same day the conference announces Notre Dame becoming a partial member, they jack up the cost for the other schools to leave. And why would they want to leave you may ask. Because ND once again gets special privileges - it gets to keep any BCS bowl money for itself and not share it. ND gets to be selected over any ACC team that has a better record by 1 game. In other words, ND at 9-3 could be selected over any other ACC team with a record of 10-2.
I don't agree with those criticizing the Big 10 for not accepting ND under these criteria. Only a desperate conference would allow ND to treat them like this.
