Notre Dame/LSU fire coaches (see obligatory duplicate thread)

Les miles deserves to be fired, his performance in the last couple years has been a travesty. He should be 15-0 every year with that talent on his roster. He should be sued for malpractice based on his teams offense, makes iowas problems seem small.

He shouldn't get fired because he's a terrific recruiter.

114-34 after 11 seasons and two games, and, a NC and runner-up NC gets you fired huh?

112 wins after 11 seasons = 10+ average. By my reckoning, he also did well in bowl games...(including beating a stellar Iowa program, something Saban never did )

2005 Peach Miami (Fla.) 40-3 W
2006 Sugar Notre Dame 41-14 W
2007 BCS C'ship Game Ohio State 38-24 W
2008 Chick-fil-A Georgia Tech 38-3 W

2009 Capital One Penn State 17-19 L
2010 Cotton Texas A&M 41-24 W
2011 BCS C'ship Game Alabama 0-21 L
2012 Chick-fil-A Clemson 24-25 L
2013 Outback Iowa 21-14 W
2014 Music City Notre Dame 28-31 L
2015 Texas Texas Tech 56-27 W

Put this in the category along with the Frank Solich/Glen Mason/Tom Davis firing(s) as the must ludicrous ever.

This also elevates LSU's fickle fanbase to the likes of Nebraska, Texas and Notre Lame who think they are entitled to wins and wins grow on trees.

Well of course I would take that record at Iowa, but comparing iowas performance to LSU's performance is apples and oranges. LSUs standard every year is national championship contender, iowas standard (to me anyways) is 8 wins.
You need to re-cant your 8 win expectation. Barta's is only 7-5 and who cares if you throw a 4-8er once in awhile.

I'll be amused if they fade into oblivion.

It's a tricky thing staying on top. You can ride a coach too long like PSU . . . or you can fire a coach too quickly like Nebraska.

LSU made one thing clear by firing Les Miles. They think of themselves as a blueblood. IMO Kirk would never fit into a blueblood program because you have to have a certain amount of arrogance and ruthlessness to fit in. That's why I always understood the contract negotiations as a bluff. There is only one P5 program that hands out fire-proof lifetime contracts. Kirk found it and to his credit was smart enough to realize there was no such thing as a "better" option for him to entertain.

I find the whole thing rather amusing. Throw out recent history (which I understand) and expectations. Do they fire Les and Cameron if the QB actually gets the snap off in time and the play is ruled a TD. Head coach canned. OC canned. QB who can't get a snap off in time ironically will still most likely be starting next week for a new HC and OC.

I don't mind the firing, but question the timing.

So does anyone in the known universe think LSU would be calling KF if he hadn't have gotten that $4.5M/year extension?

I crack myself up sometimes.

And yet were still stuck with Phil Parker and greg Davis

Someone in one of these threads said LSU fans would luv to trade Les for KF. Entertainment . . . it's not just on the football field.

Les with this record at Iowa and his face would be on dozens of buildings

KF with his record at LSU and his face would be on thousands of memes.
