Nothing To Lose Beat Ohio State thread

KF is gonna be all "YOLO" on the road in the Horseshoe. Flea Flickers from the endzone? Yes. That awful wide receiver end around pass play that takes forever to develop and never works? Yes. Seven fake punts in a row by our special teams? Yes.

It's Kirt Ferentz, the foundation of his dogma is that there is always something to lose, therefore, play to avoid it.
Keep it close to the vest; no reward is worth the risk; keep pounding square pegs into round holes and hope you can execute through it.

Buck-I 44, Hawk-I 12.

There IS risk in every decision. That said, this is a typical OSU/Iowa talent disparity. That's what will decide things.

Time to give canzeri and daniels some carries. Weisman and bullock will have the early carries but if it gets out of hand there is no reason to keep running weisman. Bullock could work in the slot and give the ball to daniels and canzeri.

Daniels needs to get some experience on the road in front of hostile fans.

Even if it is still a game give daniels and canzeri some carries.

The freshman linebacker whose shirt was burned could get some PT.

The only way the cheaters will have second stringers in is if the first stringers can't handle Iowa's physical play and get benched or dinged up in the second half. Iowa's power football may just wear them down.

About 22 years ago Matt Rodgers hit a very wide open Alan Cross to gain the last victory by the Hawks in The Shoe. Unfortunately most games in Columbus involving the Hawks have been settled by halftime as long time Hawk followers well know.

Considering OSU is not likely going to gain many BCS Championship votes by beating little regarded BIG teams the rest of this year they're likely looking to record some lopsided victories wherever possible (the part I don't like heading into next weekend) and hope that at least one of the other contenders for the Championship game stubs their toe.

I don't see Urban Meyer taking his foot off the gas against the Hawks or anyone else. If the Hawks were to win this game they would be in the top spot to date for 2013 Upset Of The Year that's for sure. It would be a great moment to resurrect the Hokey Pokey tradition.

I like this idea a lot (seriously)

The antithesis of the Western Michigan game, but, with the same purpose of team building.

I feel like this will be one of those games where everyone expects we'll get killed and the we lose by like, 10 or something and kind of feel good about ourselves but not really.

Man I would give anything to beat the Bucs. My cousin lives in ohio and all I hear out of him is how there going to throttle us this weekend. I would love to give him a big **** burger to eat. GO HAWKS!

Got this covered. Canzeri will be running the wildcat....fly and jet sweeps ........up the middle and he'll take a break.....so enter D.P. and it's all over! Punt returns.......flea flickers and tunnel screens galore. Then we bring in the hammer to finish them off. IOWA. 85. OSU 7. Yes osu did score on a fake punt!

The OSU D is not as good as the MSU D up front. Iowa needs to control the TOP and we have a chance to keep it reasonable. What worries me is the long passing game of tOSU. We seem to struggle a lot in that area.

Even if Lomax does not start he will help a lot in nickel situations. I also believe that Iowa will run it's own fake punt this week after seeing how well other teams have done with it. It should help an Iowa scoring drive. I checked Kornbrath runs a 4.8 40, and he is a big guy if it comes down to it he may just break a tackle.

A disgusting lack of confidence in an offense that had moved the ball fairly well up to that point.

You must have been watching a different game. 300 yards for the entire game with an OT period is not moving the ball fairly well. JVB threw 3 picks that day and would have had another one in regulation that would have went for a TD the other way if OSU didnt line up offsides. 7 of Iowa's points came on a kick return by DJK.

It was the right call going for OT. Lean on a defense that carried you all year and let OSU's fairly green kicker try and beat you. It just so happened he came through.

I am NOT saying Beathard should replace Rudock as the starter, so don't try and make seem like that is what I am saying. However, I would start Beathard, Canzeri and Weisman on the first possession and spread things way out. Have CJF line up at fullback, MW at tailback, Canzeri in the slot. Then, shift CJF out wide and put Powell in the slot, MW to the other slot position and Canzeri to tailback. Then, you're set up to run the read option or go deep. They can't key on MW and Powell could just take off. If this were to happen (this type of outside the box thinking; which we all know won't with KF), we'd be set up the entire game letting O$U know we are breaking every single tendacy. At least we could slow their pursuit down.

Edit: I am in the camp that would prefer LD at tailback for MW. But O$U'$ defense is going to key on MW because our coaching staff has made it abundantly clear that they are trying to get him in a Budweiser commercial as one of the clydesdale horses because he's the "heart" of our offense.
