Kirk Ferentz met with the media on Wednesday. He talked about position battles, injuries, recruiting, suspensions, 10th assistant and more:

Did anyone understand what he was saying about the Indianapolis recruits, he kind of got quiet, very cryptic, spoke real fast......I didn't catch it.

Failed to mention Kyshaun Bryan again.

That was a bit odd. Could just have been an oversight. Bryan missed the season with an injury. He's part of developing depth at the position along with Geil. I wouldn't count on Akinribade at this point.

I'm admittedly quite ignorant into how it all works, but I simply can't imagine putting the pads back on after having brain surgery. It's not unprecedented as there have been players that have done it, but I simply can't fathom that thought process. ::shrug::

The family has asked for privacy, which is why I left it where I did.

The Indianapolis recruits will be announcing at a later date. They're Hawkeyes.

Does that mean they already signed during the early period and just haven't made a formal announcement yet...or does it mean they still haven't signed yet?

Id assume everyone who signed already was made public, so why wouldn't they have signed yet?

Shame about Akinribade. If he is indeed done for good, does that mean we try to take another RB late in this class, or save that for '19?

They are signed. They haven't announced publicly. They will when they're ready.

Is that weird or is it just me? I guess I don't get the point.

As far as I can tell, there are a few other recruits announcing on or closer to the signing period in February. They want to wait and announce with those guys.
