I would guess that MAYBE 5% of fans have a problem with the actual high stepping. Another 20% think it is bad because of the rule. And 75% are right that it is a stupid ruleAkrum Wadley is a hard guy to figure out. Sounds like he gets it, but still doesn't get it, all at the same time.
He's like, I've been doing that my whole career. What's the big deal? Oh welll, the rules are rules. Ok, so now he finally gets that he shouldn't do it, because its a clearly stated rule even if it rarely gets inforced, much like going 5 mph over the speed limit. So he's not going to do it anymore because he might get flagged.
But he still doesn't seem to get it that he should not do it, because many fans, including many Iowa fans, do consider it to be unsportsmanlike, in poor taste, and immature, and he should stop high stepping even if there was no penalty.
Are you being intentionally dense? He knows the rule but thinks it is STUPID and inconsistent. He can't freaking say that without getting benched and possibly in trouble with the school or NCAA for calling out a bad referee. What he can say there is pretty limited.Akrum Wadley is a hard guy to figure out. Sounds like he gets it, but still doesn't get it, all at the same time.

Interedting that grad transfer Matt Quarrels can't make it into the WR rotation while 3 first year freshman have played at WR. Plus this is Easley's first year at Iowa too. So you would think if Qarrels was good enough to play, he would be playing.
At least Qarrels has 2 years of eligibilty left, so it won't be a total waste if he does not play right away. But if he can't beat out true freshman in the rotation now, I don't know if he ever will beat out the young guys in front of him on the depth chart.
Most of those guys have been in Iowa City all Summer, and Easley since Spring. Quarrels barely made it in time for camp.
He actually missed a few weeks of camp.
Yes, he gets that part. The part he doesn't even seem to consider is that many fans find it annoying and maybe that should be a reason not to do it. I don't get the feeling that has crossed his mind at all.
Even if lets say it only annoys 20% of the fans, thats still 1 out of 5 fans that he is offending with his behavior.
