Want to put up 55 against Purdue and look actually competent as D1 coaches? Then do the following:
Gregg:
1. Start Beathard at QB (Best arm on team, faster than JR, and appears to have the intangible fire in the belly to compete - similar to Drew Tate)
2. Start Canzeri and play him as your sole running back 80% of the game (speed is the name of the game boys - reference Oregon, Alabama, Baylor, tO$U, etc) remaining 20% go with no backs.
3. Place Powell, Duzey and Smith as wide outs EVERY play ( spread the opposing defenses on the field and give yourself some options to use what speed you have)
4. Role out your newly installed QB to give yourself multiple run-pass options.
5. Employ the screen pass - to anyone ( get your players in space)
6. Throw slant passes (it actually is legal to throw the ball over the middle boys!)
7. Anytime you cross the opponents 45 yard line, go 4 downs (show a bit of faith in your kids and perhaps they might reward you)
Phil:
8. Play Jaleel to show potential 4 star future recruits that if you come to Iowa you do actually get a chance to play.
9. Play Law in the secondary to add some speed to the D backs (who are suffering from white boy slowness)
10. Blitz frequently( its amazing how this can tend to rattle a college QB, and all the top ten teams in the country do it routinely)
and most importantly,
KF
Come down with a severe head cold, stay home, miss the game, and let your assistants run the show completely. Amazing how it has worked out at Minnesota.
