Not the greatest news

How many conference titles did Iowa win while they played for us? It’s great to produce talent but as my Husker fan coworkers would say, “if you produce so much NFL talent, Why aren’t you better?”

Because while we have and develop talent, "depth" if talent has been a struggle. It feels like that may be improving.

First of all, the fact that Nebraska would say anything about Iowa's record is laughable.

No I am not drinking. No I am not stressed.
I don't go by recruiting rankings totally.
They do have a story to tell though. I'm not saying we need to recruit like OSU, fact we have proven we don't.
I just think it might be easier to compete at a national level consistently (kind of like Wisconsin)
When you recruit a top 30 class (like Wisconsin) instead of a 45th ranked class.
We do great in the b10 west with our classes.
But we need to really knock it out of the park with the rb's and wr's to take the next step.

All good points. I think the last one is the most pertinent. We need to land WRs and RBs in the special category once in a awhile. I honestly believe Brian Ferentz's offense is going to help with that. Already, if you are TE in the midwest, you want to play at Iowa. Now, as his offense evolves, you are seeing more WR targets. Smith has gotten better, ISM still has upside...but we need to land a David Bell type. It would also help if our QB could hit them.

The other thing I've noticed, after flipping back and forth watching our game last week with Penn State and the Florida -Georgia game, is that although our backs are good, the running backs in that game were at a completely different level. Swift and Holyfield for Georgia are just flat out crazy. They get a crease...and they could house it any time.

I agree, if you are a te, a lb, a linemen or a DB, Iowa is the destination. Be it a 2-3 star or a 5 star we are great at developing and putting them in the next level. Even qb has seen a major uptick.
We just need to recruit a couple excellent rb and wr.
Do that and we make the leap into playoff contention regularly.
