Not the greatest news

what happened? I clicked the link and it took me to the Oklahoma Sooner's recruiting class. Oh the horror!

Penn State had 43 - 4 star players last Saturday night and a lot of people act like we lost to Rutgers on the road. Those #'s are never gonna matter at Iowa and in fact, the years Iowa has actually had a highly ranked recruited class didn't necessarily equate to wins on the field. It matters, I'm not saying it doesn't....but so does coaching and culture and fit and Iowa proves that a lot.

I give zero cares about recruiting class rankings. If that's your thing, your're in for a lot of frustration and aggravation.

Everyone calm down. You guys need to start weaning yourself off of the recruiting sites. Evaluators of talent at the high school level are no where near guys like Todd McShay, who had Nate Stanley going in the first round...at least until last week anyway when he found he couldn't make high school throws...his words.

The fact of the matter is that except for may the top 5-10% of kids, who are somewhat locks, from 4 to 3 stars is a crap shoot...or the margin of difference is negligible. Think about it...all these people complaining about KF and our recruiting class ratings are in fact celebrating what a wonderful molder of football players he is. All but two of those schools ahead of us are putting more players into the NFL. Either the star system sucks, or KF is the best developer of talent in college football.

Which is it? I have a feeling all the KF haters are now going to all be saying, "oh, these recruiting sites suck at rating kids".

No I am not drinking. No I am not stressed.
I don't go by recruiting rankings totally.
They do have a story to tell though. I'm not saying we need to recruit like OSU, fact we have proven we don't.
I just think it might be easier to compete at a national level consistently (kind of like Wisconsin)
When you recruit a top 30 class (like Wisconsin) instead of a 45th ranked class.
We do great in the b10 west with our classes.
But we need to really knock it out of the park with the rb's and wr's to take the next step.

Recruiting sites for college football seem like they are like the AAU shoe circuit of basketball recruitment.

Shady. Except players aren’t getting paid .... yet.

I believe I saw that Austin Blythe and Marshall Yanda were two of the highest rated Guards in NFL right now. How many stars did those Iowa boys have?

How is this 'news'. IA always sux at recruiting. Good thing we know how to 'develop' players or we'd be in a lot of trouble

Recruiting means nothing if you are fine losing the big games every year and playing an outdoor bowl game in NY.

Kittle may be the best TE in football right now. If I'm not mistake he may have been two stars. I think we were his only offer. I think he was going to walk on at Oklahoma...but we gave him a scholly.
Read this. Not a lot of happy Hawk fans when Kittle committed to Iowa. Still pissed we missed out on current banker Alex Kozan and got stuck with current top NFL TE Kittle. Start at the top of page 7 and read as long as you can stomach.

How many conference titles did Iowa win while they played for us? It’s great to produce talent but as my Husker fan coworkers would say, “if you produce so much NFL talent, Why aren’t you better?”
