Not sure if this was posted...UNI picked to upset Iowa

Bleacher report is the slimiest sports blog on the net. I used to read it but delete as soon as I see in my emails. Can't believe they are still around. UNI is good but not that goood.

I am not sure which is worse, people that give much serious thought to any article written on BR, or people that publish things on BR in order to achieve a false sense of achievement.

Personally, I find it just as amusing when people flip out over something Dennis Dodd or Colin Cowherd writes.

Yes, we are...and so is the guy posting on BR, which is the point that was originally made.

No, that was not the point originally made. The original point was:

"Who gives a **** what some random guy with no journalistic or (sports) analytical experience has to say?"

That description describes pretty much everyone here.

You're confounding the point. The issue in this posters reply isn't with people on a message board acting like people on a message board. The issue is with someone on a message board giving a level of credence to an article that belongs on a message board and not held in the light of some sort of credible news article.

To add to hogeyes point, my guess is the BR "writer" knows less about Iowa and UNI football than most giving opinions here. He saw a few scores from the past and is now making guesses. I bet he couldn't tell you three guys on Iowa's team.

Bleacher Report. LOL.

Firstly, UNI will not beat Iowa.

That said, I find it funny when people are quick to disparage Bleacher Report. Do you think highly of Hawkeye Gamefilm, who regularly posts on HN? If so, he was on BR first-- hawkeye gamefilm's Sportswriter Profile | Bleacher Report

How about the top Iowa blog in the blogosphere, Blackheartgoldpants? If so, the creator of BHGP and editor emeritus, Adam Jacobi, is currently the Big Ten lead blogger at BR-- Adam Jacobi's Sportswriter Profile | Bleacher Report

Does BR publish a lot of crap? Does it have a lot of unsupported garbage? Sure, on both counts. Can any moron that is able to put together a complete sentence write for them? Sure, but any idiot that can put together a complete sentence can start a blog. Moreover, a good many morons that can (barely) put together a complete sentence write professionally for news organizations.

The fact is most BR articles aren't very good, but there are some quality articles and writers on the site. You just have to find them.

If you're looking for journalistic integrity/credentials/etc. ala Woodward and Bernstein, welcome to the 21st century, the Information Age, the age of information sharing and the hyperlink, where Joe Schmo's opinion is just as relevant as anybody else's. Get used to it, or it's going to be a long ride for you.

Finally, the strength and emotion of some posters' responses indicates that they do indeed "care."

Unless its Adam Kramer or Adam Jacobi writing it, if I click on a link and see that it's Bleacher Report, I pretty much close the tab

Which supports exactly what I said: "The fact is most BR articles aren't very good, but there are some quality articles and writers on the site. You just have to find them."
