they never were good - just looked good on paper.

Moving forward I'm not sure I trust some of our so called stars.

White can't shoot - easy to stop by any competent team.

Mike G - really having a bad feeling about this kid right now - I don't think he can handle the big time.

This team needs to be blown up next year.

Some of the guys that started this year I'm not sure I'd start next year.

Disagree. If Marble would have had his normal 18 points instead of 6 or whatever, we would have won.

How about the fact that we cant win a close came in the last two years.

Fran never should have pulled Joq when he had the hot hand. You don't pull a player when they're doing well and you don't play a player through a slump(Marble).

Joq was 4-5 and he played 16 minutes. Marble was 3-15 and he played 36 minutes. Something is wrong with that.

If you think about it going back for the last two years - this team is what it is.

They can't consistently hit shots and they just crumble when it matters the most.

The team couldn't get it done...but to say they didn't give effort tonight is completely wrong. They played one of the better defensive teams in the country over the last month of the season and I didn't see them backing down...they fought hard, but came up short. An illusion means they didn't beat any good teams, or beat teams on the road...so your illusion comment is out the window. Fine, we need a few more athletes...I'll give you that...but to call out guys as stupid and weak is most likely a reflection on your butt hurt self. It must hurt to look in the mirror and see what you describe...a small-minded little man with a tiny pennis.

Intelligent point? This is a freaking college basketball game. If you want to have an intelligent conversation about an intelligent topic I am here. Look, I am being a little harsh, your post isn't overboard, but I'm just so sick of people pretending like their life depends on the success of Iowa sports or any sports for that matter. I can't imagine what is going through the mind of Fran right now, yet people don't care, they just care about their own feelings and how the teams performance affects their mood. I thought the guys played hard tonight. Didn't have enough firepower against a physical game that was called to their favor.

I never said they didn't play hard. Or that they didn't try.

They just don't play tough or smart when it matters- for the past 2 years.

It is what it is.

It's the business of the game - tis not personal.
 
Next time some sports analyst (who probably watches bits and pieces of 300 odd teams) tells you Iowa is a lock for the final four in the NCAA, take their opinion with a grain of salt and decide for yourself.
Its not so bad when the Hawks play to their potential, and you can look forward, with relish, for changes and replacements.

Yeah see people are getting all angry but I'm just being rational... this team I thought was learning how to win last year.

But then this year they did the same thing - because it's just who they were.

They looked like something on paper that they just were not in reality.

They were very good. They won 20 games and made the NCAA tourney.

They lost a TON of close games. I truly think it is all about who plays at the point in Fran's system. Mike and Devyn are fine players, but neither is a true point guard at this level. Hopefully, Fran will address this problem

I agree the effort was good tonight......Iowa got beat by a better team with personal you need to win at this level.....size and bulk with serviceable enough shooters. Iowa is built like a tweener team that will feast on bottom feeders but fall short against teams like Tennessee, MSU, etc. Got to upgrade the recruits.
 
To OP: that's like saying Ladell Betts was a disappointment because he was never able to lead his team to a New Years Day Bowl...

This group put Iowa back in the realm of being relevant. It's up to the next group to elevate Iowa further.

So you don't think the team gave effort tonight, so you don't think the team played with every team they played this year and unfortunately couldn't make it happen at the end of games. No one blew them out...they played everyone pretty tough..yet BigTenMoron says they are an illusion and you apparently concur. That's beyond stupid. They took all the good teams they played to the wire...so the difference between these teams is one or two plays here and there and you have these morons bashing the **** out of these guys. You ******* idiots just don't get it most likely because you never played a competitive sport in your life. I feel for these guys...they were a lot closer to great than many of you morons realize.

They were good sometimes... which made us see them as possibly becoming elite.

But I'm being honest - they just never were who most of us though they were.

We thought they could grow into something but they just didn't.
