Northwestern should be Scared!!

The Hawks have tasted bitter defeat. They don't like it!!
Stanzi hasn't really played against Northwestern since early 08 season. He had just secured the starting spot from JC. Iowa had 5 fumbles that game and we barely lost 17-22. In 09, Stanzi and the Hawks came out HOT, until Stanzi got hurt. No one can disagree that we would not have lost last year if Stanzi would have stayed in. Northwestern lost more key players than we did last year.

Iowa is going to CRUSH Northwestern 42-17. It will be worse than the score would have been last year.

Considering the way Kirk has approached payback games this year I would be very afraid if I was Northwestern. Last year will be burnt clearly in these coaches and players minds...also Saturday's flat performance vs Indiana will also be looming in their minds. I am feeling a solid performance for the hawks...

Healthy A-Rob, battle-tested Coker...I look for Iowa to run the ball very effectively, which will pay huge dividends in the play-action game. I expect the D-Line to contain Persa and hopefully force him to make some bad decisions.

Payback's a b*tch, and I'm expecting a big, angry one wearing black and gold to show up Saturday in Evanston.

hasn't northwestern owned the series as of late? and in watching tape of saturdays IU game I don't think they're standing around talking about how scared they are. I'd be willing to bet the conversation has been going a little more along the lines of ,"this is how we exploit them, we just have to execute".

I think I would be a little scared if I were Iowa fan. You lose to NW and it will crush the morale of this team as well as much of the fanbase going into a huge game against tOSU.

Stop it you guys! I'm supposed to be working and I'm about to jump out of my chair because I'm so freaking pumped! AAAHH GO HAWKS!!!

Anybody who predicts this game as a blowout win for Iowa has been drinking a bit too much of the Hawkeye kool aid. While I like to take an overdose of that myself sometimes, I just can't do it here. These have been close for a decade, and as noted earlier, NW has done more than its share of winning of late in this series. Add o this that fact that Fitzgerald lives for this game, it is what he gauges his program against - and for good reason given Iowa's success. NW will be fired up to knock Iowa out of any potential tie/outright championship hopes in the B10. I would look for a very close game that comes down to turnovers and is within 7 pts. After Indiana, just win baby!

We had 5 turnovers in 08, and 4 turnovers in 09. Ain't gonna happen this year. CRUSH them..... do you hear me.....CRUSH!! You pansy jackwagon!!

Hope u r right, loess. I'm struggling to shake that IU game; more so than Wisky. At least Wisky, the offense was pretty much scoring as needed. Having such a horrid offensive (literally and figuratively) outing against such a weak defensive team as IU, this late in the season, just concerns me. Especially when the offense has been consistently producing all season.

It's not like the defense, which has been decimated by injury on top of a shaky backfield. The O was only missing 2 guys -- Gettis and A-Rob. Coker produced as much as A-Rob would have on the ground. (KF even said he did things behind the scenes, so I take that to mean he was blocking and running routes well.)

The IU game was way beyond "flat". "Flat" = Wisky vs PU. Hopefully it was just an "off" day by Ricky's accuracy and audibles, the OL's numerous penalties and poor red-zone play-calling by abandoning the run. Either way, they need to have more than a "solid" performance because NW is far better than IU.

NW will score against Iowa's D. They're designed to be exactly what Iowa's D counts on other teams not being -- accurate, efficient and patient. Add to that NW's emotional edge over Iowa, potentially crappy weather and ... if Hawks continue to fail in the red zone and get into a field goal contest with NW, they will lose.

As long as no-one gets knocked out of the game,we should be fine. The Cats seem to find a way to take our play makers out of the game.Greene in 2008 ,Stanzi in 2009.
It's time for some major payback !!!! Let's hope Arob can stay healthy!!

How did the Cats look on Saturday against a very so-so PSU team that is quite similar to Iowa but not as good? The answer, of course, is they looked really good for 30 minutes. Then they got their ***** drilled and it wasn't pretty. If they aren't scared going into this game based on what they did Saturday they should be. Iowa is angry and ready to execute... NW got exposed and hasn't beaten anyone this year.

1. Northwestern has had our number lately, and they know it.

2. Every week is different (see our pounding of MSU followed up by a VERY ugly win against a bad Indiana team).

3. Penn State has improved since we played them (Royster has finally clicked in, and their new QB has done well)

4. No team should be "scared" coming into a game.

For those reasons, Northwestern will come into this game confident, believing they will win, just like every team should.

I just have to think that our seniors are going to be gunning for NW. Most of these guys weren't starters when we beat them the last time. That's some extra motivation there. Plus, they wear purple...seriously. Purple.

I'm with you. Any hawkeye who has seen NW beat Iowa recently simply cannot wait to beat NW. I agree that the seniors likely really, really want this victory.

I sure do. I can't wait for Saturday. Where's my raincoat?
