Northern Iowa loses again

Sorry it was so funny hearing their fans talk about at-large bids and how they were top 2 in the MVC. Now they are 0-2 in conference with both losses to bottom teams.

I watched a little bit of it, what was with UNI running and gunning? Evansville dictated the tempo and UNI was taking quick shots. I always thought UNI was a slow it down, run the sets and make the other team play defense for 25 seconds of the shot clock.

IT did not even look close to the team I saw play Iowa a few weeks ago. Bummer, its always nice to have at least 1 team in the state of Iowa be in the NCAA.

Like DesMoinesHawki said, they rolled us, so I'm not going to talk smack, but they do need to pull their heads out of their butts before they accumulate too many "bad losses"...

Correct me if I am wrong....

Was that not the game that we tied the game with 9 minutes to go only to have it waved off and did not get another possession until 11 more points were scored by UNI resulting in a 13 point swing?

Box score; Iowa shoots 59.1% to UNI's 47.6% and makes 8 more FG's than UNI.

Free throws; UNI shoots 33, Iowa 9....

It's funny how when the whistle stops blowing decidely in a single team's favor they stop winning games! Keep in mind they also lost to Ohio from MAC recently.

I rarely complain about officiating as a single contributor to a game but that was RIDICULOUS and I fully support Fran's reaction to it so I don't want to hear how this year's UNI team is some kind of world beater.

Watched most of the game and UNI looked nothing like the team we played. Nobody could make a shot, Koch was a non factor other than grabbing 10 boards and they looked lost against a so-so Evansville team.

We seem to bring the best out in our opponents.

Some teams get beat early in a year and then steadily progress while the team that beat them doesn't progress much or even gets worse as the year progresses. Is that the case with Iowa and UNI? Would UNI beat Iowa by 20 now with Basabe and Cartright playing much better? Those are the two guys that Iowa needed to play well to be a good team and when Iowa played UNI, neither player was playing well. Now that they are and Iowa is a much different team than when it played UNI the first time but is UNI much different?

It won't be long before UNI's wins against Iowa were nothing more than a blip on the radar screen and we will see that UNI was able to beat Iowa while Iowa was in one of their worst periods in history. And UNI rubbed Iowa's nose in it. Just remember that what goes around comes around. But revenge on UNI will fairly small because Iowa will be looking at bigger prizes...challenging for the B1G title. These few years that UNI has beaten Iowa means more to UNI than it will for Iowa to beat UNI. UNI just isn't a big enough prize in Iowa's future. And it will be back to being an upset if UNI happens to beat Iowa. The two programs are never going to be equals...

Newmexhawk- you successfully mentioned UNI a record amount for 1 post. 14 times is the quick count I got. You also managed to say Iowa 14 times as well. Kinda sad I guess that I noticed the school names more than what your actual post was about but I'm sure you had a point

Indeed it was, SpecialK...I'm only talking about in the true sense of having scoreboard...I'd love for the Hawks to have another shot at UNI, with a decent set of officials, especially after hearing shows like "Travis and Tim" (TnT) on KXnO proclaiming that not only was" UNI the better team, but they have the better athletes than Iowa"...because I think Iowa rolls them, even at the Mac.

I will ALWAYS root for UNI and ISU to do well except when Iowa plays them.

UNI needs to turn things around fast. I bet the MVC gets two to three teams in the NCAA tournament assuming one of the top three teams win the MVC tournament.

Is Seth Tuttle still starting for them?
I go to Central Springs which is in West Fork's conference (WF the HS he went to).

I am pretty sure he starts if he does not start he seems to play a good amount of minutes.

He looks to be averaging 8.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.

He looks awkward but seems to get the job done. He seems to pass fairly well out of the post.

By awkward do you mean he is tall and doesn't know exactly how tall he is? If so, he hasn't changed.

I wouldn't expect anymore UNI wins over Iowa anytime soon. Now that they won't be playing in Cedar Falls anymore, I doubt they'll have that kind of help from the stripes.
