Norm Parking Recruiting

Norm does not go out on recruiting visits correct? If this is true, does he spend a lot of time with the kids and their families when they visit?

Just curious how that worked - do many other schools have their OC or DC not out on the road?

Or it's a sign right at the end of a rectangular square about the size of a golf court at Iowa's practice facility.
 


Based on all info I have read, Norm does meet with all defensive recruits and possibly offense recruits too when they visit on campus. I believe he did some off campus recruiting but it was minimal. His health limited travel last year but will see how it goes this coming season. Kirk will probably keep him home and let him charm all visitors during weekend.
As for other schools, I have no idea because I dont pay attention to any other schools. I would assume most of OC and DCs do alot of recruiting off campus but it all depends on personnel of the coaching staff.
 


Just an update on Norm's parking recruiting...Gary Barta told Norm that anytime something "big" happens that requires a press conference, Norm can have Gary's spot "right out front", cuz, as Gary put it, "I'll be on the 3:10 to Yuma the second we get the presser scheduled"...

Sounds like Norm's parking recruiting has landed a blue chipper.

Norm has never left IC to recruit.
 






I just hope he is healthy enough this fall to game plan all 12 games and then to attend the games and call the defenses, blitzes and stunts. He is a great coach and he makes a huge difference.

You could see it in the Missouri game; a couple of blitzes and stunts really made a difference in the 4th quarter.

We are a much better team with him actively involved.:D
