No way to spin it....looks like 7-5

The line play is not there, CJB banged up, ole coaches are back, first loss ever to a sub division team. Way to take the air out of the balloon.

Miami of Ohio was showed shades of what was to come. Terrible ISU covered it up for a week.

Boy, what a punch in the gut.

Yea the signs were there after the first game. NO pass rush, weak interior defensive line, poor pass blocking, no wide receivers except Vandenberg. The dropsies by the wide receivers has me wondering. How good are the freshman? Because it sure seems tough to work your way into this Iowa line up. Maybe open try outs for receivers needs to be held. Just not athletic at that position. Where's Scheels, Young, and the other speed receivers we were recruiting the last 3 years. Didn't expect to go undefeated but did expect out offense to put up numbers. This was a big step backwards for the program.

Where do you see 5 more wins? I see beating Purdue, I don't see another win. You can't win if both lines get beat that bad.

7-5 would be a "good" season at this point. Im guessing 6-6
To expect this team right now to go to Gopherland, Penn State, and Illinois to get wins is a stretch. I worry right now if we have what it takes to beat Rutgers and Indiania. Just didn't see the weaknesses of the line play on defense and offense coming.

We should have seen it coming, as you said, after the Miami of OH game. That game could have been closer than the final score indicated. And they're terrible.

I would take that right now. Maybe I am not thinking clearly, but unless we figure something out on the lines and playcalling, I am very concerned.

The interior of the defensive line is the concerning since we have three upper classmen at defensive tackle. They can clean up their mistakes but they aren't going to get physically more capable.The defensive ends seem to be improving with additional experience.

The interior of the offensive line will get a lot better when Welsh and Daniels are back in. Using two green starters next to each other wasn't a good situation in this particular game. NDSU has several future NFL players in their defensive front seven. LeGrand was having some problems with the quarterback exchange under game pressure. You don't want a distraction like that for your QB when the opposing defense is bringing pressure. NDSU took away Iowa's interior running game. Than they started shortening Beathard's time holding the ball. At offensive tackle Croston and Boettger are decent players but not good enough to compensate for the mess that was happening on the interior. Things gradually got worse as the game went on.

If Jake Rudock was at the helm . . . maybe. And I'm aware we tanked with Tate (injured) and Stanzi their senior year. But if CJB can hobble thru the rest of the season I think we reach 10 wins after Bowl season is over. Admittedly CJB will be battling conservative cirk the rest of the way.

Unless we have marked improvement in oline play, run defense, and playcalling, there is very little chance we win 8 games. Throw in any significant injuries, and we may be looking at 6 or less.

The next 2 games will tell us a lot. If we lose either of these next 2, or even win close/ugly games, I can't see more than 7 wins, because that would tell me we are not getting better, and the schedule gets tougher as the season goes.

We needed a 5-0 start with signs of improvement get to 10+. I have watched MI, Minn, Wisc, and nebby play multiple games this year, te Iowa team that played Saturday loses all of those games, and a couple of them badly.

I simply haven't seen signs of improvement in playcalling nor play to be optimistic.

I'm in total agreement that this schedule set us up for a sweet start to the season.The first 7 teams do not match us in history or resources. And we blew it. Like we have so many times before. I'm trying to be optimistic right now . . . but you may be correct. It's gonna be a torture test week-to-week from here on out.:(

No bowl game for Iowa this season. NDSU was the third worst team on our schedule and they punked us. At least my Saturdays have opened up now. I don't have the energy or patience to watch 2012/2013 Kirk come back.

@Rut W 3-1
NW. W 4-1
@Minn L 4-2
@Pur. W 5-2
WISC L 5-3
@PSU W 6-3
Mich L 6-4
@ILL W 7-4
NEB L. 7-5

Yup, checks out.

Either 7-5 or 6-6. 8-4 at best.

The play of Iowa's defensive line was very troubling, I though Johnson and bazata were the strongest unit on the team. They were overwhelmed in the second half
