No way Sullivan isn’t QB1 next week, right

McNamara has a lot more experience and familiarity with the system than Jackson Stratton, a redshirt sophomore Colorado State transfer added in June.

I still think Sullivan is going to start. The coaches also want NcNamera fully ready if possible.
All BS aside about skill, etc., McNamara needs to take care of his brain. Concussions are a nasty, nasty animal and affect everyone differently. There are people who get one concussion and have problems for the rest of their lives. There are people who have multiple and don't have any noticeable effects. The problem is you have no idea until you get one, and then it's too late. There's no effective treatment for TBIs that get you back to normal once the symptoms start. None...

There are things that can help slow it possibly, but there's no repairing whatsoever.

Favre, Kosar, Jim McMahon and myriad others have millions and millions of dollars collectively, but if you also have dementia to go along with it, none of that money means a thing. Jim McMahon can't leave the house without his wife or someone with him because he's gone out before and all of a sudden not known where he is, what he's doing there, or find his way back home. Favre is on record saying he has about 20% short term memory now and can't remember ever going to any of his daughter's soccer games of which there were dozens.

If CM takes another shot two weeks after bouncing his head off a carpeted concrete floor he could be the same way. Tua's going to be in a wheelchair at 50 drinking pureed carrots for lunch. But at least he'll be able to afford the nicest nursing home in the country I guess.

Cade is recovering from a quite possible concussion

And another knee injury is a constant threat

He has to be apprehensive with the threat of another severe injury on his mind

Particularly brain damage from another concussion

"A concussion is a mild traumatic brain injury that affects brain function. Effects are often short term and can include headaches and trouble with concentration, memory, balance, mood and sleep.

Concussions usually are caused by an impact to the head or body that is associated with a change in brain function. Not everyone who experiences a blow to the body or head has a concussion."

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought it was a joke. I guess that is what KF has done to us. Made us question the obvious.

I hope CM is ready and recovered and available as a back-up. That room is thin and this is a huge game.

But, BS just lead the team to two blow-out victories over not terrible teams. He is the starter now. Period.

I agree with the gist of that. I very much doubt we see McNamara on the field unless the precautionary measures last week were just that.

The central nervous system is still a very mysterious thing. Not only do people react very differently to bruising of brain tissue in the short term, but also age-related issues seem to compound those problems decades later.

If Sullivan remains the starter and we roll our last three opponents, this year will be remembered just like 2008 was. One of the best teams in the Ferentz era that got too many losses early due to not making the obvious move at qb. Also similar with the Greene/Johnson comparison.

I'm sure I'll get ripped for posting this and I have hesitated to do this, but what the hell. I know someone that's more than just close to the program (megadonor), and he says that it's Lester's decision. It's also well known in some of the outer circles (of the inner circle) of the program (big donor).

Lester wasn't going to come here unless he had full control of the offense. We see that on the field. No question. The offense is hardly recognizable. Awesome blocking schemes, motion, and misdirection. Giving a variety of looks AND coming back to previous looks and running different, creative plays off of those looks.

Sully didn't get here until the summer and only had a few weeks to learn the offense and get reps in the offense. He wasn't going to get the majority of the reps with the 1's during that time. When you watch the offense, the timing is so crucial and it would tough to get a newby able to run this offense while not getting the majority of the reps with the 1's. Also, you can't just give the new guy all the 1 reps in the middle of the season and hope it works. That's why he was going to get a few series last week, against a shitty team, to ease him in just in case of an injury or the need to replace CM.

These coaches aren't dummies. They want to win. Believe it or not, they know more about football than some of us.
The problem is (was) that coaches had been saying for at least 3 weeks prior to Mac getting hurt that they were planning to play Sully a few meaningful series in each of those games...then never did. Lester even castigated himself after one of those games publicly, saying he needed to be more disciplined during the game to do what was planned. It just. never. happens with KF. Up 35-10 vs Wisky with 5 min remaining would have been a good time to get Stratton some snaps in case Sully goes down next week if Mac's still in concussion protocol. Nope. Just. doesn't. happen.

We all know Tua Tagovailoa will be the one that is 40 and struggles walking into rooms with the lights turned on. It is cringeworthy watching him play(I can’t do it). Roger Goddell should have flexed and “forced” Tua to retire. I realize the NFL is teflon, but man we don’t need to see Tua with the fencing arm again.

When it comes to the quarterback spot I have no faith in Kirk. It is his blind spot, it is his krptonite. I wouldn’t be surprised on any decision he made.

Do you mind if we dance wiff yo dates?

You got me started now. Sitting at parent teacher conferences and I'm running AH quotes through my head. Something enjoyable at least.
What do you intend to do sir, they're already on probation.

Is that so? Well now they're on double secret probation!
