No Poll love

I am not surprised that the Hawks are not in the top 25, but must say I’m surprised they didn’t receive any votes. They have beat 3 teams currently in the top 25 and dismantled a team #10.

I hope the Hawks just keep playing solid basketball. If they can finally fix the shooting droughts in the month of March they could be one tuff team in the tourney.

Iowa needs to earn its love by finishing strong, doing well in the BTT and winning at the Dance. And I'm fine with that.

That is a surprise really.

Well, Fran can play the "no respect" card a little bit. Works for me.

If we win this week we will be ranked i bet. A top 25 team should get a 6 seed you would think.

I'm actually ok being outside of the top 25 (although I agree a little strange to not get any votes). A win tomorrow night may very well have us crack the T25....although I am not so sure that is even a good thing.

A win tomorrow night would be so huge for this team, and it would keep the mojo going right into a rematch with the kitties, and then right into the BTT.

Go Hawks.

I don’t see them cracking the top 25 just because they go and beat Indiana on the road tomorrow. Since they didn’t even receive a vote i think they have to win the final two to crack the 25.

Again I don’t put a lot of weight into rankings at the end of the day just win. They are fun to look at and evaluate. I also think they do play into recruiting.

I thought both ISU and UNI would drop further then they did. I don’t think from their February performance ISU deserves to be higher than 20.

The more this team flies under the radar until the tournament starts, the happier I will be.

Starting next Monday the rankings mean exactly dick. The only number next to any team will be their seed in that tournament.

Northwestern and Minnesota losses ensured they wouldn't get votes.

Win those games and Iowa is a top 20 team this week.

That's assuming we still would have won all the other games. It's very possible that those 2 loses made us a better team.

I don't foresee Iowa being placed as the strongest 7 seed (equivalent a #25 ranking) in the field even if they beat IU and Northwestern. But maybe I'm wrong. Hopefully I'm wrong!

If Iowa wins the next 2, they'll be 12-6 in the B1G. When was the last time a 12-6 team in the B1G not ranked?

I think if Iowa wins out they'll be 23rd to 25th at the start of the BIG tourny. But I don't have a problem with em being not ranked now. I'm way more worried about what there seed will be in the big dance. Hoping for a 7 or better. To get that they need to win out and a game in the BIG tourny at least. The rankings are pretty pointless now. What Lunardi (he's usually pretty darn close to being right) and those committee guys think is all that matters here in a couple weeks. I would love Iowa to be ranked to end the season for publicity reasons but other then that I don't care much.

I don't know much about rankings but I do believe they only come out once a week so I'm 100% with you that winning at Indiana won't be enough. And since I'm 100% sure that losing to Northwestern would give them a 0% chance of being ranked....

I think you may be on to something.
