..he got some good quotes, a few from Michael Gartner that just further shows how out of touch he is with reality.
Because its a specious argument. There is no uproar over this. I have never seen it brought up on any message board. Of the 120 teams in FBS, just six do not take part in this practice.
It was a waste of time. I like Randy Peterson, and I am not saying it wasn't well written..he got some good quotes, a few from Michael Gartner that just further shows how out of touch he is with reality.
Is ISU 1 of the 6 then?
No, ISU does it too. I think they have been doing it longer than Iowa has.

From Iowa's standpoint it's a moot point because the Athletic Department doesn't utilize state funds.
Now Iowa State's Athletic Department still utilizes state money (general fund). Gartner could have a point with the use of funds being utilized elsewhere.
From a common sense standpoint and coaching point of view. It makes total sense to get the kids out of the dorms on Friday night because nothing good would happen. It allows the kids to get into a routine of whether it's a home game or a road game.
Is there any paper less relevent then the DMR?
