Nico Law on Special Teams

In watching a replay of the game Law's impact didn't seem as obvious as watching from the stands, but he was the first one down the field covering kickoffs by about 5 yards each time.

He made the tackle on the kickoff after the Miller pick 6. He also had a really nice hustle play on the kickoff in the 2nd quarter after it was 17-0. He overran the play a bit around the 10 yard line and got blocked but hustled back up field and ended up making the tackle around the 30 yard line.

He must have got dinged up a bit as he was out on the final 2 kickoffs and CJF replaced him. But this is the type of experience that I think will serve him well come next year when he has a real chance at vying for playing time.

Agree completely. Noticed it a couple weeks ago already against Pitt. Just watch him when he steps on the field....he looks determined to make a big play!

I like watching him on kickoff. Seems like a very high energy kid and looks pretty fast! I also watched CJFed on the last kickoff. Did anyone else see him blow up the wedge?

I've noticed him tearing it up on kick coverage every game too. Can't wait for this kid to crack the starting lineup.

He'll be the starter by conference play next year (as we all know that Ferentz is going to start sleeper)

I've noticed him on special teams as well. He will step into the two deeps on D next yr and do very well.

Not sure about that. Sleeper plays Miller's position more naturally. I think that Law might step in more seemlessly than we think.

He has been on kickoff team since the start of the season and done well. I don't think he is hurt I think he was out the last couple of kickoffs because they had the hands team out ready for onside kick.

That's the kick return team. He wasn't out on the kickoff coverage team.

I think that between Miller, Law, Sleeper, and Lile ... Iowa's safeties are going to be pretty good in '12.

At CB, Hyde and Lowery will be a strong due ... Lomax will be entering the picture ... and Castillo is pretty solid in our extra DB personnel packages. And I didn't even mention Campbell ... a guy who might just have the highest ceiling of all of them!

I truly believe that Iowa's secondary will likely be pretty good in 2012. I just hope that Miller and Bernstine have taken Law under their wing and have been prepping him on how he's going to need to prepare as a starter. Miller was lucky enough to get mentored by Greenwood and Sash .... hopefully he can pay-it-forward to Law.

One thing I've noticed on kick coverage is he frequently gets down there first and blows up a blocker or two, allowing someone else to make the tackle.
