NicK Saban Picks Up Some More Cash

Capitalism at its finest. I thought of this earlier when I saw Screaming A Smith on GMA. They were speaking to this topic and of course they preface it by saying he’s the highest paid state employee… Without mentioning that like at Iowa not a penny of tax dollars goes towards that. You’d think that when having that topic brought up to that audience you’d lay out how it works more. But the way they left it out there it sounded like tax dollars were paying Sabans salary…
Then they went on to talk about paying student athletes, he of course said he was for that. However he made sure to preface it by saying those that are revenue generators… How does one define that? The QB gets paid but the backup long snapper don’t? Or does the whole football team get paid but not the womens volleyball team? Because at most schools due to title 9 don’t the football programs prop up a lot if not most of the womens programs top to bottom? If all that revenue is going back to the mens football/basketball programs where’s that money for the women going to come from?
Talk about a fiasco of a problem. Not only that but will Alabama pay their kids the same as Iowa State? You want to make recruiting even more ruthless let it be a free for all… There’ll be a lot more kids decommitting from Iowa to go to Michigan if that’s how they’d set it up…
I think title 9 will be the biggest reason why college sports has to stay the way it is. Politics politics politics… The more ‘fair’ they try to make things the less it usually ends up being.
