Nice barometer vs Purdue

The game vs Purdue will be a good opportunity to see how the young Hawks have grown/learned since their wipe out at Purdue.

I don't expect an Iowa win but I will be interested to see if Iowa comes out with energy and a desire to not be embarrassed vs one of the talented and experienced teams in the conference.

I think Iowa will show improvement...a win at home isn't out of the realm of possibilities...

I'm hoping for a competitive game. If Haas and Swanigan decide to takeover the game, I don't think we can stop them.

If Uhl participates this time, in a meaningful way, that would help. He has shown improvement and perhaps is more healthy at this point.

I see Pemsl being more aggressive...

Things will be different this time around. Look for a Hawk victory.....

The Lads were overwhelmed at Purdue. First game on the road in the B1G at Mackey. A very tall order for an inexperienced team.....

Brutal arena filled with HawkHating Fools, who were booing the slimy zebras in the second half with a 30 point lead.....

We were not going to win that game no matter what. The venerable KenPom had the Hawks with a 10% chance of winning.....

The filthy referees took us out of the game early in the first half, completely removed any possibility of winning, Cook, Pemsl and Jok were saddled with fouls and sat much of the first half......

Lads will be more careful this time around, and the home court factor should be in play. However I would not be surprised to see that factor disappear.....

We Must Value The Ball. No room for excessive turnovers. Another 18/19 turnovers will doom the Hawks against Purdue......

Must make Every free throw and engage Moss in the shooting rotation.....

The second half at Purdue was a good one for the Hawks. Played them even. Painter kept at least 3 starters in until the last minute. Those losses last season to the Hawks really hurt the boilermakers. Blew their wad against the Hawks, losing the next game to Minnesota at Mackey.....

When Dom and Cook were in together, they held Haas to a couple of baskets and stopped Purdue inside quite well. The defense must adjust to stopping them on the perimeter while guarding them inside. Not an easy task but the Lads can do this. Dom must get playing time. I do believe he has come around.....

Tyler will be ready to play.....Hawks could have a 3-2 record in the league after the game.....

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Purdue will not make 3 times as many 3 pointers as Iowa in this game, so we will see some improvement. But Iowa will have to be really good tonight to keep it the game within 10 points.

The key to beating Purdue is having our big men who can take their two big horses outside...because of our outside shooting ability. Not sure we have that...

Dang, what a game! 20 lead changes. Lots of great performances. Jok 29 pts, 8 assists, 6 rebounds. JBo 12 pts, 9 assists. Cook 16 pts, 6 rebounds. Baer 10 rebounds and many key plays. Pemsl with an amazing move on the Purdue big men. Kreiner with 6 pts off the bench.

Physical game - Baer gets kneed in the mid section on a block/charge, Pemsl in and out with a sore back. Uhl hits his hand on the rim and leaves the game. Cook bangs his finger. JBo with a late ankle roll but guts it out. Young Hawks gut it out.

EDIT: Moss also dinged up. Fran said he took a shot to the head and was a bit dizzy at half. Tried to go in the 2nd half but couldn't. Training room will be full tomorrow.

Hope non are serious injuries. They all showed serious toughness. I would have been proud of the guys even with a competitive loss....but by God...How bout them Hawkeyes!

They made the "needle" move on the barometer tonight!

So much good...always seemed to have a chance to win it, even when down.

Baer, a magician.

JB making those two big FTs is a dose of fresh air for Iowa fans.

Nice to see hard work pay off...

Nice to have a break on the call review...it was the right call...inconclusive...go with call on the court.

Such hustle and amazing to win by five after being smoked by 20+ the first meeting.

Nice use of timeouts...saving a couple...

Great win...starting to really love watching this team.

And Kriener!!!! What composure... I think he will be good with some meat...perhaps a red shirt...has some moxy

Amazing win. This team is a legitimate shot for the post-season now (NIT?), which would be a great thing for such a young team.

Maybe. I don't think we have the horses to stop Swanigan or Haas. But if we can get the game to be more perimeter oriented, that would benefit us for sure.
Swing and a miss. Total wiff, actually. Iowa dominated them inside, which I never could have seen coming. Still can't quite believe it happened.
Kudos to coaching staff for solid game plan and kudos to players for sacking up and playing some killer D!

Who would have thought Purdue would shoot great from 3 and the free throw line and we would still win?
