NFL to Suspend Players for Violent Illegal Hits

I'm watching SportsNation on ESPN2, and Cowherd is nailing this. His partner (don't know her name) is just ridiculous. She thinks that suspending players for hits like those delivered by Dunta Robinson, Brandon Meriweather, and James Harrison delivered will HURT the league. She says that's their job, they're just doing their job. Sentiments like that are what is wrong with the culture surrounding football.

Yes, it's the most violent sport we play. That doesn't mean that we should just accept that eventually a player is going to get killed out there. I for one hope that this issue gets seriously addressed (I'm far from sold on the idea that the NFL really wants to get rid of these hits). I like big hits, but helmet-to-helmet hits are deadly.

i agree its going to change the way defensive players tackle now i think it should be a play by play basis because you can tell which ones are intentional if you watch the big hits

one plus this might back defensive players get low and WRAP up like they were taught in high school cuz all it is now is hit them as hard as they can and hope they fall down

I can't stand the helmet leading tackles. Learn to play the game. I think all involved are responsible. I don't think the NFL cares as long as they don't lose viewers. Fines are not the answer!

Check out this hit. Is it legal? I think so, except a bit early.

In today's NFL, I think he might have earned himself at least a fine, but not sure about a suspension. While it wasn't helmet to helmet, there was definitely intent and the lead shoulder looked like it got an awful lot of facemask/helmet.
