I would schedule that way every year. Young teams that play those types of schedules are very tough teams when they are JRs and SRs. Always play the best competition you can find. It's the only way to be the best.
Random thoughts on this:
Texas Tech had a KenPom nonconference SoS rank of 307 and their season turned out just fine.
Iowa at one point in the season was viewed as a 4 seed even with their weak non conference.
Nebraska had a high NET because they CRUSHED some terrible opponents. They basically jacked up their efficiency rankings so high that the NET was skewed unfairly. I do wonder if the NCAA will tweak that portion this year.
Strong schedules can give you some wiggle room as long as you win, that is 100% true. But you have to win. The losses wont really hurt you, but they wont really help you either.
