Next week = Must Win!

Now that Iowa did what they were supposed to do in week one, the importance of next weeks game can not be overstated.

With a road game the following week against a Pac 10 championship contender, a loss next week opens up the distinct possibility of going into Big 10 seasons 2-2, and with this team, that ain't gonna cut it.

We are simply a much better team than Iowa State.

We need to come out and match their intensity and match their want and then stay with that. If we do that, I expect a similar result as this week. If we don't....

Every game is a must win for me for this team this year. With that being said, I don't think Iowa is going to lose to ISU at Kinnick!

I think Iowa outmatches ISU in all catagories. So it all falls down to execution. Iowa builds on this week, cleans up some problems then they will kill ISU.

A nice 50-0 win would be nice next week.

I can not believe how many people are predicting a huge win over the clowns. Do they not remember how many times Iowa was favored by a big margin and got beat.

For those who think Iowa will get a blowout, watch the NIU-ISU game again. Arnaud and Robinson will be enough to give us a hard time. I'm still the sure the Hawks will win...just not in blowout fashion.

I think Iowa will contain Robinson and Arnaud for the most part. Its that little other part that makes me nervous. Today's win wasn't really a blow out super dominating win.
It was dominating to be sure but at the same time it was more of a pre-season win. Iowa wasn't tested, they had the game from the beginning. EIU fought hard but was never comfortable.

I would like a 50-0 win, but I don't see it happening. I want to see a good solid performance, move the ball, no O'line problems, no interceptions. Defense, good solid secondary and linebacker play. The D'line will dominate thats a given. While any win is good, a 20-17 win might be a signal of some big problems with Iowa.

I'm going to make it simple: Clayborn > Arnaud + Robinson.

Clayborn's going to earn his Outland on the strength of this game, not to mention how many times he's going to throw Pryor and the other Big Ten quarterbacks into the turf the rest of the season.

Robinson averaged less than two yards on a carry on 18 carries. I know he had had the long run, but NIU more than held their own against him. Their offense committed 1/2 a dozen penalties in their own building. I'm more concerned about someone like Franklin or their other receivers than I am Robinson running wild. That dive play they ran at will in the first 1/2 on Thursday night? Not gonna work Saturday afternoon.

Iowa stops the run and doesn't turn it over, they win. Simple as that.

If Clayborn wins the Outland based on the ISU game, that means everone else on the list had a really ****** year.

I'm not too confident about next week.

The Hawks have some work to do this week. Our secondary was terrible in pass coverage. Our offensive line needs to step it up a little. And for God's sake.....our defense needs to do MUCH better at containing the QB. Arnaud will run wild if we don't get some contain on him.

Debbie Downer everyone.
