NEXT GAME WILL TELL

Once more, lots of positives from the game on Saturday. The defensive front 7 looks like the real deal. This wasn't an undersized Minny O line, it was a big, strong O-line that couldn't make a dent in our front 7. We still have questions in the secondary, and I think that will be the case all year long. We also have to start scoring more in the Red Zone. If we do that alone, I think we are in most every game remaining on the schedule.
If we start finishing drives, we have a legit chance at winning 8 or 9 games. That's a big if, though.

This game against Michigan St is a good step up in competition. It will be a game that is very winnable it will be a chance to get a quality win for our Hawks. I have watched MS play some this yr they h ave a good defense we just need to go in with the right attitude. Because if we don't it could be a long saturday. GO HAWKS!

MSU gave up two touchdowns to Western Michigan's BACKUP QB. They're far from untouchable.

Yo, exactly. What's all this crazy talk about MSU's defense being so good? Do you guys realize that two of the teams on their schedule are pathetically awful and are averaging 14 pts per game (South Florida and Western Michigan)? Against opponents like Nichols State, Florida Atlantic, Kent State, and something called a McNeese State?

MSU is not good, folks.

^ agreed, completely. MSU is more of a challenge than Minny in name (i.e. recent reputation) only. 2 of their 3 wins have been against 2 of the worst teams in D1 & they lost to what is looking to be a VERY mediocre Notre Dame.

I will concede their D has looked salty (albeit against inferior competition) but they have displayed a high level of ineptitude on the offensive side of the ball.

I'm not saying Iowa's path to 4-1 has been murderer's row by any stretch - my only point here is to invite folks to take a more objective look @ MSU and realize they are a middling team this year. And it's at Kinnick - I think we blow their doors off.

Does anybody know what kind of kick and punt return game that MSU has? We've been a little weak in that area and I would hate to see their offense start getting points because they start with good field position.
